Our Christmas Decorations Are Up :)
It’s the first Saturday in December which means it’s traditionally the day we decorate for Christmas. I love putting the Christmas decorations up and this year its even better because my dad has come to visit for a couple of days 🙂
We managed to get the tree up with only a little bit of stress; I forgot to put the tree skirt on first! We had to undo the base and get it on while the rest of the tree was held up by the kids!
I put the lights on then let Aiden, Kaycee and Ella loose with the tinsel and ornaments 🙂
One of our family favourites at Christmas has to be the treat trolley. I think I probably mention it every year but if you haven’t seen it before, here it is in all its glory!
It belonged to my dad’s mum, my Mama, who gave it to my mum when I was a child. When I got my own family, my mum gave it to me and I just love it.
Kaycee puts it together every year and fills it with all the goodies 🙂
Fireplace and Mantel
I always decorate the fireplace and mantel. It’s my favourite part of decorating. I love how pretty it looks when it’s done.
Last year we had my miniature village on the table. It looked wonderful with the Christmas train but it wasn’t practical.
This year I moved some books off the bookcase and set it up on the shelf. I also moved the books off the shelf above and decorated with some ornaments.
More decorations and a Snowball cocktail!
Another tradition we have is to drink Snowball cocktails while we decorate. Ant usually makes us all (except Kaycee who doesn’t like them!) a Snowball
or 2 but this year Ella wanted to make them 🙂
I’ve just realised that one of the things we’ve never had is a nativity scene. We’re not particularly religious but it would be nice to set one up each year. I’ll add one to my list to buy for next year; I’ve seen some lovely ones on Holyart.co.uk. You can buy individual figurines to build your own nativity scene 🙂
