Everyone deserves a memorable birthday party, so it’s totally in order to go above and beyond to make sure you plan that perfect birthday for your kids. One way of doing that is taking the party outdoors, as it gives you a world of possibilities to create lasting memories. Kids laughing and running around in the warmth of the sun – what could be better?

If this is the kind of party you have in mind (or you are now considering it), we’ll give you some guidance on how you can execute it perfectly.

Choose the Ideal Location

The biggest decision you will have to make when planning the party is where you will host it. This is because there are many considerations that you will have to factor in. For example, what are your child’s interests and hobbies? They are the special guest, so the venue needs to be able to accommodate the activities they like or offer something they like.

Besides this, you also need to consider the accessibility as most of your guests will also be children. It should be convenient for attendees, so ideally, not far from home. Getting an appropriate one shouldn’t be hard as there are many birthday party venues London to choose from. But before you decide on one, ensure that you also look at the space available and the facilities and amenities.

Create a Fun and Age-Appropriate Theme

What will capture the attention of your kid and all other kids at the birthday is the theme. It is also the aspect of the party that they will remember the most, so it’s important to ensure that you put some thought into it. There are many themes that you can go for. Some of the most popular ones are superhero themes, a princess or prince party, a pirate adventure, a jungle safari, space exploration, a dinosaur adventure, a sports day, and Lego building.

Before you choose one, ensure that you carefully consider your kid’s interests. What would make them excited the most? You can then bring in your creativity with the decorations. Ensure that everything blends in together and sets the way for the next part – games and activities.

Plan Engaging Activities

Games and activities will be a key part of the celebrations – after all, it’s a kids’ party. You will therefore need to  come up with several games like a dart board that are both engaging and age-appropriate. Some of the initial games the kids play can be centred around the theme. For example, if it’s a superhero theme, you can give the kids some simple masks to make them superheroes, and they can then try to capture one kid playing as a villain, say, the Joker.

Besides the theme, you can also have some classic outdoor games such as sack races, Simon Says, Balloon Pop, and Duck, Duck, Goose. These will allow the kids to have fun with each other and make the event memorable.

Weather-Proof Your Party

While an outdoor party will take the birthday party experience a notch higher, it’s also important to acknowledge that Mother Nature can be unpredictable. You don’t want to plan the birthday party and even start it only to have the special day dampened by unexpected rain or intense sunshine.

As such, you also need to ensure you have a contingency plan in place. You can start by looking at the weather forecast on the days before the event, as it will give you an idea of what to expect. But either way, it would be great to have the option of moving indoors, especially if the party is during the rainy season.

Healthy and Fun Food Options

You know it’s not a complete birthday party if several food items are not involved, and they are important to keep your young guests both satisfied and energised. So besides the birthday cake, ensure that you plan for some delicious and fun food options.

There are many options that you can go with, one being a picnic-style menu. This will allow you to have a variety of fresh and tasty choices. You can also throw in some vegetarian and healthy snacks like popcorn and baked chips. There’s then water for hydration, alongside some refreshing drinks such as lemonade.

Safety First

Since you are dealing with kids in an outdoor environment, you’ll need to be careful to ensure that the environment is safe for them to play and have fun. This can include things such as supervision, sun protection, restricting hazardous areas, having a first aid kit, and being mindful of allergies. This will create a secure and enjoyable environment for the children to celebrate and have fun.
