Fade Away By Harlan Coben Book Review #29

Fade Away is the third book in Harlan Coben’s Myron Bolitar series. I’m working my through all 11 books in the series 🙂

Fade Away

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

Myron Bolitar once had a promising career as a sportsman, until an accident forced him to quit. After a spell in the FBI he now runs his own business. Then Myron is approached to find Greg Downing. He knows Greg from old – they were once rivals, not just in sport, but for a woman they both loved. Now Greg has vanished, and the team boss wants Myron to find him, before news of his disappearance is leaked to the press.

In Greg’s house Myron finds blood in the basement – lots of it. And when he discovers the body of a woman, he begins to unravel the strange, violent world of a national hero gone wrong, as he comes face to face with a past he can’t re-live, and a present he may not survive.

My Thoughts

This book really dragged in the middle but I persevered and got to the end. I’m glad I did because it picked up toward the end and I ended up giving it 4 stars.

It was a bit unbelievable to put Myron on the team at this point in his life. He was supposed to be undercover, trying to find a player that had gone missing but I don’t think anyone would believe he’d be on the team now with his damaged knee and years older.

I usually struggle to keep going with a book I’m not enjoying, so well done! Glad it worked out to your benefit! #readwithme

A national hero gone wrong? Reminded me of Oscar Pistorius. I’m glad the book improved as it progressed.

That is really intriguing blurb! I’m not very good at sticking with books if they drag in the middle – well done for persevering!

It’s strange how our opinions of a book can change as the chapters go by, always worth sticking with! #readwithme
