Santa Cross Stitch – My Sunday Photo

I’m working on this Santa cross stitch as much as I can but I don’t think it’ll be ready in time for Christmas this year!

Thank You Pennells Garden Centre – @PennellsGC – Sunday Photo

At the start of October, our local Pennells garden centre opens its Christmas shop. Their Christmas shop is massive and it’s becoming something of a tradition for us to go visit on opening night.

They have 20% off all Christmas items on this night only. I bought some Christmas mugs and a tree decoration and very nearly bought the train decoration in the picture below; KayCee even put it the basket for me.

We browsed a little longer and while browsing I managed to talk myself out of buying the train. We had a holiday coming up (we’re actually on said holiday right now!) and I told myself I didn’t need the train, I just really wanted it and the money could be better spent on our holiday. KayCee took it and put back on the shelf for me. Before she did, though, she said to me, ‘are you sure? You’re going to regret it!’

I told her yes I was sure and no I wouldn’t regret it.

She knows me well, however, because on the way home I posted some of the photos on Instagram that I’d taken and mentioned how I did regret not buying the train.

Twitter

My Instagram posts are automatically posted to Twitter but I have to admit that I don’t check Twitter often. All the tweets on there are ones that have been posted somewhere else and automatically posted on Twitter.

I don’t have notifications enabled on my phone either so it wasn’t until over a week later that I noticed someone had replied to my post. I’d tagged Pennells in my Instagram post and they’d seen the photo on Twitter.

Happy Customer!

I’m now one very happy customer because I have my train and what’s even better is, I didn’t have to use any of our holiday money because I had some garden centre vouchers that we got as a gift last Christmas! I didn’t know I could use them in the Christmas shop, I thought they could only be used on garden items so I was delighted when Will said I was able to use them on anything in the shop apart from the concessions 🙂

While we were there I also got some new plants for the planter I bought last year at Morrison’s. It was a Christmas planter but the plants had died after Christmas. I like the planter so planted it up with some new plants that hopefully will look good all year.

Thank you, Will, and all at Pennells 🙂

A Map Of Days By Ransom Riggs – My Sunday Photo

I enjoyed the first three books in the Miss Peregrin series so when I saw a fourth book, A Map Of Days was going to be released in October I pre-ordered it from Amazon.

At the time of ordering it cost £10.49 but the day it was out for delivery I got an email from Amazon saying the following:

You saved £3.00 with Amazon.co.uk’s Pre-order Price Guarantee! The price of the item(s) decreased after you ordered them, and we gave you the lowest price.

I love Amazon!

Dobby The Chihuahua – 7th Oct My Sunday Photo

Ant’s son, Jourdain, and his fiance, Nettie, brought their new addition to the family to meet us last night. We all fell in love with gorgeous Dobby. She’s a beautiful tiny baby chihuahua.

Here she is snuggled up on KayCee’s Harry Potter blanket!

KayCee now wants a chihuahua. Ella still wants a guinea pig so Ant said they can both have what they want if they can keep their bedroom tidy for 6 months.
They tried before and managed a couple of months until Christmas came then it all went to pot!

We’ll have to se how they do this time!e

Welcome Dobby

More Prepping For Christmas Posts – My Sunday Photo

We still have lots more things to do to get Christmas posts ready for the blog so all the photos on my phone from this week are Christmas ones! I don’t even have any Ella selfies, which I usually do every week!

We’ve been making magic reindeer food, marshmallow snowman, Christmas bark and still more cookies. Ant’s also making a batch of mincemeat today; we’re going to have homemade mince pies this year at our Christmas Eve open house. The smell of the mincemeat is delicious and is making me feel all Christmassy!

Too Many Apples! – My Sunday Photo

We’ve lived here nearly 5 years. When we were looking for a new home, this was the first one we looked at and I fell in love with the apple tree in the middle of the lawn.
It’s always given us quite a few apples, but this year it seems to have gone crazy! We have hundreds of apples. So many apples that we’re struggling to find something to do with them!

What To Do With So Many Apples?!

We’ve given bags of them away. I chopped and cooked some and KayCee made some delicious crumbles and every time one of the kids say they’re hungry, I tell them to get an apple!

This morning Ant and I spent an hour or so sorting the good from the bad and he wrapped the good ones in newspaper and stored them in a big box.
I’m going to spend the afternoon peeling and chopping the not so good ones so we can freeze them and use them throughout the autumn.

Too Many Apples!

Too many apples!
I’ve been picking them as often as I can and each time I get this many or even more. Today I filled a washing basket, a paper bag and these 2 popcorn buckets again and there are still so many left on the tree!

Another Teenager In The House! – My Sunday Photo

I now have another teenager in the house. It was KayCee’s 13th Birthday on Thursday. She’d been planning her party for most of the year and I’m happy to say that apart from one glitch, it was a roaring success 🙂

Happy Birthday, Teenager!

Strawberries And Cream Baileys – My Sunday Photo

My lovely mother-in-law gave me some birthday money and instead of spending it on the house, like I usually do, I treated myself to some strawberries and cream Baileys.

Oh my word, it is delicious!

Strawberries And Cream Baileys

I’ll be on the lookout for some dessert recipes using this Baileys now! I tried looking at some on the Baileys website but for some reason, they’re not working.

I did see one for a Baileys strawberries and cream ice cream that I’m going to try. I also want to try making a trifle of some sort. I’ll share the recipe if it turns out nice!

Family Get Together – My Sunday Photo

You may have read that we recently found my older sister who my mum had put up for adoption before she had me and my siblings. We met Jayne a while ago but we hadn’t yet met any of her children or her mum. A family get together was needed!

Family Get Together

Last night my mum did just that and had a party to get our family and Jayne’s family together so we could finally meet 🙂

It was a lovely evening with everyone getting on really well and having a great time together.

Jayne and her mum are at the back. My mum and my Nan-Nan are at the front :o)

Through having this party, we found out that one of my cousins had been friends with Jayne’s son a few years ago and my cousin would often go to their house at lunchtime and even started calling Jayne, mum!

They say it’s a small world and it truly is :o)

The Post Office Are Starting Christmas Prep Early!

I’m a bit obsessed with Christmas, as many of you will know, but even I had to look twice at this letter the super wonderful husband received this week.
Christmas in July is on the Hallmark channel and they’re showing lots of Christmas movies this month so maybe this is why the Post Office thought it would be a good idea to remind us, in July, to Remember To Post Early This Christmas!

Post Office Christmas In July!

Post Office reminding us in June to post Christmas cards early!

I do tend to think about Christmas all year as I like to spread the cost. I did have to wonder, though, if this was a mistake by the Post Office or if they’re trying to get us to spread the Christmas post through the year so they’re not as busy in December!
