October Viewing On Netflix & NowTV

Ant and I have the same taste in TV programs which makes choosing what to watch, very easy!
Here’s a list of some of our October viewing on Netflix and NowTV.

October Viewing – Netflix

The Good Place

October viewing - The Good Place series on Netflix

We LOVE The Good Place. I’ve always been a fan of Kristen Bell, she just seems down to earth and would probably make a great best friend!
Here’s a bit about it if you haven’t started watching it yet:

When Eleanor Shellstrop finds herself in the afterlife, she’s both relieved and surprised that she’s made it into the Good Place. But it doesn’t take long for Eleanor to realize she’s there by mistake. She hides in plain sight from the Good Place’s architect Michael and his all-knowing assistant Janet. Her seemingly perfect neighbors Tahani and Jianyu and open-hearted soul mate Chidi help her realize that it’s never too late. With the help of her new friends — and a few enemies — Eleanor becomes determined to shed her old way of life in hopes of discovering a new one in the afterlife.

The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory on Netflix

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for season 11 of The Big Bang Theory to start on Netflix! We missed it when it was on whichever channel it was shown on earlier this year so had to wait for Netflix.
I’m sad that they’re only making one more season.

Chesapeake Shores

Chesapeake Shores on Netflix

KayCee and I love Chesapeake Shores. The others in the family, not so much!
It’s a family drama about a set of 5 siblings which starts out with their mum leaving when they were younger then comes back to the family now they’re all grown up.
They were brought up by their dad and grandmother.
We do get annoyed at the grandmother’s accent, though, I have to say. She tries to do an Irish accent and never quite pulls it off.
It was amusing at first but for some reason, it’s starting to annoy us now!

NowTV In October

The Leftovers

The Leftovers on NowTV

After two per cent of the world’s population disappeared without a trace, those left behind attempt to get on with their lives in a world that has inexplicably changed forever. Acclaimed HBO drama.

We’ve only got 1 season left to watch of The Leftovers and I read that they’re not making any more so I’m hoping it’s finished off properly and we’re not left with a load of unanswered questions!

If you want to watch The Leftovers, you need to get a move on because it’s going off NowTV near the end of the month.

9-1-1 on NowTV

I love Connie Briton and cried when her character, Raynor James, died in Nashville. I was very pleased to see her back on TV in 9-1-1.

She plays a 9-1-1 operator in this series and I love seeing this side of the emergency services in a TV show.
We wait eagerly each week for a new episode. Much the same as we do for the next and last how on my list:

For The People

For The People on NowTV

For The People is a new show from Shondaland and if you’re not familiar with Shondaland, it’s from the creator of one of our favourite ever shows, Grey’s Anatomy.

What We’re Watching On Netflix & NowTV In February

We’re all caught up with Grey’s Anatomy on NowTV and are having to wait for the new episode every Wednesday. It’s the same with Criminal Minds and we only have a couple of episodes of Madam Secretary to catch up on so we had to find something new to watch.

When we had the full package with Virgin we watched the first 2 seasons of Scandal. We hadn’t known it was available and didn’t get to see any other season before it was taken off.

We both really enjoyed it so we were pleased to see the box sets available on NowTV.

NowTV Scandal

Our number one choice on Netflix at the moment has to be Friends. I wrote about how I had the box set for Christmas then all 10 seasons became available on Netflix!
We’re on season 4 four now and usually manage to watch a couple of episodes each night.

The OA

I watched the first episode of The OA the other day. It’s totally my kind of show and I’m looking forward to the next episode.

Netflix The OA

Stranger Things

I watched season 1 of Stranger Things last year without Ant for some reason. I can’t remember much about it so I’m planning on watching season 1 again before starting season 2. This time I’ll see if Ant wants to watch it with me.

Netflix Stranger Things

I haven’t started watching Dark yet but I will be doing very soon. It’s been likened to Stranger Things so I’m probably going to like it just as much.

Netflix Dark

If you’re a fan of crime documentaries, A Suffolk Dad has shared his top 5 picks. I’ve added Evil Genius to my list; I can’t wait to start watching it.

Also, Mrs Mummy Harris has some great recommendations for things to watch on Netflix while on maternity leave 🙂

NowTV, Netflix and YouView – The Way We Watch TV Is Changing!

NowTV & Netflix

We’ve been Virgin Media customer for around 10 years. When I saw an email from The Money Saving Expert saying that VM prices were set to rise again, I knew we had to start looking elsewhere for our broadband and TV services.

Virgin Media

We were already paying just under £85 for phone, broadband and the Full House TV package and the email said we were likely to be getting a £3.99 a month increase.
I was not prepared to pay nearly £90 a month so Ant and I started checking out the prices of other companies.

EETV and Broadband

After a few hours, we had decided on EETV with broadband.

I phoned VM and gave my 30 days notice to cancel. It was very easy to do and they didn’t give me the hard sell. She did tell me what price they could offer by dropping the TV package but it was still more than EE so I declined and went ahead with the cancellation.

I ordered the EETV to be installed on August 29th and VM was going to be switched off on September 1st. It was going to save us about £50 a month but it did mean I’d lose quite a few of the series I watch and our broadband would be dropping from 200Mb to 72Mb with EE. We decided it was worth it to save all that money. All was well until the following day when VM phoned me to confirm cancellation as they’d been contacted by EE.

Virgin Media

After a short conversation with the man at VM, he gave me an offer we couldn’t refuse! We would be dropped down to the basic TV package and 100Mb broadband. VM would pay our line rental for the year meaning we now have a monthly broadband bill of £21.

£21 for 12 months is amazing, especially as we get the 100Mb broadband. Our service for broadband from VM has always been excellent and we get great speeds here. We’ve had a few problems with the wi-fi dropping out but rebooting the box fixed it. VM are sending us a new box now as well so hopefully we won’t have that problem anymore 🙂 As we both work from home and our business is mainly online, I’m happy to be staying with VM.
I have nothing against EE as we’ve never used them but I was worrying a bit about the change. Not only dropping the speed but I didn’t know how reliable they are.

Anyway, we decided that seeing as we were saving so much money, we could afford to buy a YouView box on which we can watch Netflix and we thought NowTV. Once it was installed, we discovered YouView only support the NowTV movies. You can’t watch the entertainment, kids or sports channels. Ant was quite annoyed that this wasn’t made clear before he bought it.

We had to nip to Asda last night and pick up a NowTV box. We got one with a 2-month movie pass as I’d already paid upfront for a 6-month entertainment pass.

I have to say that after seeing what’s available on NowTV entertainment and movies, I’m really excited about our new way of watching TV.
If you’d have told me I’d be giving up the Full House TV package I’d have laughed at you! There are so many great shows to watch on NowTV and Netflix, however, that I’m sure I won’t miss any of my other programmes.

We’ve been using Netflix for a while now on our TiVo box. There are loads of series we want to watch, including Luke Cage and Daredevil ahead of the new The Defenders show. We’ve watched Jessica Jones and have nearly finished The Iron Fist.

So all in all, although I’ll miss using the TiVo for all my recordings, I’m excited about our new choices 🙂

Netflix – What We’re Watching

We’ve decided to cut down on a number of TV shows we record so that we have more time to watch our Netflix shows.

Big Bang Theory

At the moment, Ant and I are on season 2 of The Big Band Theory.

Netflix What We're Watching - The Big Bang Theory

I have no idea why we haven’t watched this before. It’s brilliant. The downside to it, though, is that Ant finds it so funny, he laughs out loud. Very. Loud.
Because we don’t watch it until the kids are bed, I worry that he’s going to wake them or disturb the neighbours!

After getting back from our holiday last year, our neighbours asked if we’d been on holiday because they hadn’t heard Ant laughing for the week!

Designated Survivor

The next show we’re enjoying is Designated Survivor.

Netflix What We're Watching - Designated Survivor

I like Kiefer Sutherland and this is a really interesting program. We have a thing for American political dramas at the moment.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Another of our favourites is Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Netflix What We're Watching - Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

It’s a bit daft but I think that’s what appeals to us about it.

Gilmore Girls, A Year In The Life

I started watching The Gilmore Girls, A Year In The Life.

Netflix What We're Watching - Gilmore Girls A Year In The Life

I’ve not finished episode 1 yet and I started it weeks ago. I just don’t seem to get time to finish it. I was so looking forward to it as well. Hopefully, now we’ve stopped recording so many TV shows, I’ll get to watch all the episodes!

13 Reasons Why

Last year I read 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. I really enjoyed and it and was excited to watch the show.

Netflix What We're Watching - 13 Reasons Why

It hasn’t disappointed so far. I’m on episode 7 which is Tape 4, Side A.
It centres on Hannah Baker and Clay Jensen. Hannah commits suicide. Before she does, she makes some tapes that tell of 13 people who did things to her that made her decide to end her life.

Once Upon A Time

I used to watch Once Upon A Time but as with everything else, I haven’t had time recently.

Netflix What We're Watching - Once Upon A Time

Kaycee, though, is now hooked and has nearly watched every series. She’s soon going to have to wait each week for the new episodes to be released!

I’m very nosy and would love to know what you’re watching on Netflix?!

The Netflix Tag

Thanks to Carolyn at Carolyn Blogs for tagging me 🙂 I Love Netflix and wish there were more hours in the day so I could watch everything on there that I want to see!

All Time Favourite

My all-time favourite would have to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I don’t remember getting excited about any tv shows the way I did when it was time for the latest episode of Buffy on a Thursday night!

Current Addiction

Pretty Little Liars. I first saw it on MTV I think but it was a bit hit and miss so I loved being able to catch up on them all 🙂

My wish for my wishlist came true when they put Once Upon a Time on Netflix. I’d been watching it on Channel 5 but didn’t get to see seasons 3 or 4 so now I’m playing catchup.

Pet Peeve

My pet peeve is having to go right through all the categories to the bottom to get to my watch list when I’m on Netflix on TiVo. It takes forever. There’s probably an easier way that I don’t know about but in general, I don’t find Netflix on TiVo very easy to navigate.

Marathon Essentials

For me, it would have to be Pretty Little Liars, The Returned, American Horror Story, Suits and The Good Wife.

What’s on Your Watch List?

All the ones I mentioned are marathon essentials!

I now tag anyone who wants join in 🙂
