Birthday Gifts

It’s my 40th birthday!

It’s my 40th birthday today, 40 is the new 30, right?

Keep calm, 40 is the new 30

I keep hearing that 40 is the new 30 and seeing as it’s nearly the end of my 40th birthday, I’m hoping it’s true!

I’ve had a wonderful day.

I’ve been spoilt rotten, drank lots of wine, eaten lots of pizza which I haven’t had for months and had cake and ice cream for pudding, so yep, it’s been a great day 🙂

My gorgeous Kaycee made a delicious cake; she put so much effort into it then cried because she’d been pushed for time and it wasn’t turning out how she wanted it.
She’d had trouble with the first 2 cakes she made; someone probably me, had put the wrong flour in the jar so she used plain flour instead of self-raising. She was trying to make a chocolate cake but they tasted more like chocolate brownies. She used cookie cutters to cut them into different shapes.

I kept telling her that I loved the fact she had taken so much time to make me a cake. It didn’t matter what it looked like because I knew it was going to taste delicious, no matter what.

She cheered up when I gave some suggestions as to how she could cover the sides using the cut-out chocolate brownie pieces she’d accidently made earlier!

It tasted delicious, as I knew it would. I now have to resist having another slice because as from tomorrow I’m back on the diet!

I had a birthday BBQ on Sunday. Some of my family came from Derbyshire to celebrate with me and I had a really lovely afternoon.
My girls spent the afternoon in the pool with their cousins and they all had a brilliant time.

I got to spend time with my boy. He’s been at his dad’s since he left school a few weeks ago and is staying there for most of the summer. I also loved seeing my mum and dad who I don’t get to see often enough.

Mum, dad and Aiden

My stepdaughter, Kellyann made me a wonderful birthday cake.

I want to thank everyone who has sent presents, cards and birthday wishes. I want also want to thank Kellyann and Kaycee for the lovely cakes 😀

39 today! :D

It’s the last year of being in my 30s. I’m 39 today and I thought I’d be sad and upset like I was when I was at the end of my 20s but I must have matured because I’m not upset at all about turning 40 next year 🙂

I was so upset at no longer being in my 20s that on the day before my birthday, I had to stop myself from crying on more than one occasion.
I look back now and wonder why I was so silly!
I’ve been spoilt today, as usual 🙂
My wrapped birthday presents

My super wonderful husband bought me an Eye-Fi card for my camera so that I can transfer the photos wirelessly to my iPhone 😀

My best friend, Jo, bought me a fairy light for the garden and some Ferrero Rocher, that I shared with the family.

Kaycee bought me the birdcage planter and Ella bought me the boot planter. Aiden bought me two lovely candles to go on the dining table on the patio.

My stepdaughter and her boyfriend bought me a Gorjuss Ruby wallet purse. I’ve wanted the handbag and purse ever since doing a review for Flamingo Gifts. I got the little coin purse from Flamingo but I wanted the wallet purse so I could keep notes and cards together with my coins.

My mother in law bought me 2 water lilies for the pond. Talking of the pond, we had a frog in the stream the other day. I wasn’t fast enough to get a photo but I was super excited!

My father in law bought me a Nashville cd. I have 3 now, only 4 more to get (until season 4 is made and they release another 2 cds!). Nashville is my favourite TV show and I LOVE the music. I’ve got the Christmas Nashville cd on my wishlist and I really can’t wait to listen to it at Christmas!

My stepson, Jervais, bought the lovely meercat garden ornament. Meercats are so cute and garden ornaments are always a big hit when it comes to gifts for me 🙂

The lovely Jackie, who I do the weigh ins with at our Slimming World group bought me the Joules skincare set. They smell so gorgeous 🙂

My unwrapped birthday presents - 39 today

It’s becoming a tradition for my beautiful Kaycee to make me a birthday cake. She’s a brilliant cook and I really enjoyed a big slice of this cake or two!

I’ve got a present to look forward to from another of my stepsons and his lovely girlfriend and my mum forgot to send me the card from her so I also have that to look forward to. She makes really nice cards, I can’t wait to see what design she’s done this year 🙂
I’d like to thank everyone on Facebook who has taken the time to send me a birthday message today. It was lovely to log on and see so many birthday wishes 🙂

My new favourite gift website – Flamingo Gifts

Flamingo Gifts

I was like a kid at Christmas, waiting for my parcel to arrive from Flamingo Gifts earlier this week!

I’d been asked to pick some things I’d like to receive and would be sent a few items from my list so although I knew what was on my list, I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to be sent.

I was delighted with all that I received :o)

Mirabelle and Gorjuss

I’m a new fan of Mirabelle and Gorjuss after seeing the selection on Flamingo Gifts. Unfortunately, the handbag I reallllyyyyy wanted was out of stock 🙁 but I did get a purse, journal and pen and a lovely watermelon lip gloss.

Gorjuss Poppy Wood premium journal and pen – £11.69

I also received an owl doorstop and a tiny Russian doll. I’ve wanted a Russian doll for at least 10 years and when I saw not only a Russian doll but a tiny Russian doll, I had to add it to my list. I love all things miniature so you can imagine my excitement when I opened each doll and came to the last super tiny one!

Tiny Russian Doll – £10.70

There are loads of things I want from Flamingo Gifts and I’ve added quite a few to my Amazon wishlist!

I also ordered a couple of items for my step daughter’s birthday. They were delivered the next day which was excellent service. It’s her birthday tomorrow. I can’t share with you what I bought her unfortunately because I don’t want to spoil the surprise!

10% Off

At the time of writing there’s 10% off everything which is reflected in the above prices and postage is only 1p. Even without the promotion, postage is only 99p for orders under £34.99 and FREE on orders over that which I think is absolutely brilliant. High postage costs are what put me off ordering from some gift websites.

Flamingo Gifts will definitely be my first stop now when I need to find gorgeous birthday and Christmas gifts 🙂

Please note: I was sent the above items in return for an honest review.
