4 Tips to Transforming your Kitchen

Most people feel that they need to transform their homes at some point in life. One of the places that most people want to transform is the kitchen. There is a lot that goes into the kitchen and it is that one place in your house that guests will always see and come to especially when you have gatherings and dinners.

It is also important to transform the kitchen so it can always sparkle and be hygienic. Here are 4 simple tips to help you completely transform your kitchen to make it more inviting, give it a bold new look and maintain hygiene.

  1. Paint or Add Wallpaper

One of the easiest things you can do to have a new look for your kitchen is paint it or add wallpaper. The choice between the two boils down to preference, size of your kitchen and condition of your home. If you have a small kitchen, painting it might be the way to add character to your kitchen. Choose a paint that can resist the conditions in the kitchen and one that can be cleaned with ease.

Wallpaper is ideal for large kitchens. The patterns can be overwhelming for smaller kitchens. Wallpaper can add a lot of character to a kitchen that looks boring and dull. Ensure however that you choose vinyl based other than paper-based wallpaper.

  1. Counters

Another very important part of your kitchen is the counters. You can add quartz, granite or marble counters to add sparkle to your kitchen. Quartz is the most durable and is resistant to the conditions in the kitchen. The other two varieties will require sealing annually or semi-annually depending on the use to maintain their look.

Choose marble if you want an elegant high-end look for your kitchen. Granite adds a natural look to the kitchen because it is solid stone. Quartz doesn’t need sealing and costs less to install therefore it has the best savings.

  1. Add Splashbacks

If you want to really maintain the hygiene of your kitchen and keep it clean then you need to add glass splashbacks. They are available in many different varieties to choose from to match your other kitchen installations like cabinetry. Splashbacks made of glass add a lot of depth and sophistication to the kitchen.

They are seamless because they do not have grout lines so you can be sure of an elegant finish to your kitchen. The glass used in splashbacks is also heat resistant and toughened for safety. It doesn’t shatter when hit so safety is never an issue.

  1. The Floor

The floor is the other area of the kitchen that really determines the look and cleanliness. You can add a hardwood or tiled floor in your kitchen. With hardwood, you have a timeless look that can really keep your kitchen looking beautiful for many years to come. It will need retouching after some time and can be expensive to install.

Taking care of these four will give your kitchen a complete transformation.

  1. Functionality

When dealing with a small space, it is important to have the most logical layout in mind. You can consult a planner to help you come up with such a layout or you can just do it yourself if you are good at planning.

It is also possible to just sit with the other people who are using the office to brainstorm on ideas. Have issues such as the sitting arrangement, how many office appliances you have, the furniture you need and other such issues that will greatly affect the layout.

  1. Remove Things You Do Not Need

Do not have things you will not need in the office lying around because this will just use up the much-needed space. You may also have a storage space where you put those things that you do not use quite often.

For instance, if there is an item you use once in a week or a month, you can store it somewhere else and bring it in only when you need to use it. This will give your eyes some free space to look at which makes your office feel even bigger.

  1. Furniture

One of the things that can really eat up on office space is furniture. You do not have to use huge furniture pieces with a lot of wasted space. There is a lot of ingenious furniture out there made for small spaces. More details found on officeworthylist.com.

Such furniture is meant to be highly functional while taking up the least space in your office. You can, for instance, go for transformational furniture that can be adjusted for various different functions. You might also think about having custom-made furniture added to your office.

  1. Office Appliances

Office appliances are the other items that can really take up your valuable space. Have only the appliances that you really need to perform. Also, some appliances are also getting smaller as technology advances so go for the small most advanced ones and those that offer more than one function.

For instance, you can get a small five in one printer that you can use for colour printing, photocopying, scanning, black and white printing and even faxing. Also, people are now more mobile and devices such as phones and tablets can do most of what needs to be done on the computer. Opt for laptops instead of using desktops where possible.

  1. Concealed Storage

You can also add a lot of concealed storage options in your office to tack the things you do not need away. These storage options can be in hidden places, corners, and at places where you can pull it out.

With these five tips, you can make any small office space more functional and give it a bigger feeling.

The Christmas Hope By Donna VanLiere – Book Review #47

The Christmas Hope is another of the series that has been made into a movie. We’re planning on buying them all!

The Christmas Hope

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

Patricia and Mark Addison have long given up the hope of having a meaningful Christmas. But this year, Patricia’s job as a social worker will lead her to a very special five-year-old. Against her better judgment, Patricia bends the rules and takes the little girl to her own home.

Through the presence of Emily in their house, and her penetrating questions about heaven, the Addisons learn that there is no sorrow so great that faith cannot help you find your way through. And Christmas will once more be a time of joy in their home.

My Thoughts

I’d seen the movie but hadn’t realised it was part of this series. The movie didn’t make me cry as much as this book did!

It’s a tear jerker but still such a lovely story of love, loss, but most of all hope.
I love how all the characters end up tied in some way and I totally wish I lived in this town with all these people!
