5 Ways to Recover Properly

The road to recovery can be a matter of days, or it can take months, even years, depending on the severity of the injury or trauma you sustained. When you’ve suffered an illness or injury, you feel as though you’ve taken a knock – both physically and mentally and regaining your strength and confidence can take a long time. You must, however, remember that you can get there with support, focus, determination, and the desire to live life as well and happily as you can. There’s no one easy way to recover, and every individual’s needs differ, so listen to medical professionals, seek advice and clarification, and ask for help whenever you might need it.

Seek Medical Help

If you’ve suffered an injury or accident, then there’s a high chance that you’ll need medical assistance especially if your injuries are quite severe. If you’re at all concerned about your health, then seek medical treatment and advice as soon as you can. To recover properly, you should consult doctors and nurses for the best advice. Don’t necessarily believe that your condition can be treated at home, and that which is “only a scratch” will heal up on its own without getting infected.

Know Your Rights

Thankfully, the vast majority of hospital treatments and surgeries are successful and go smoothly, however on occasion they do not. Statistically, malpractice and medical negligence happen only very rarely, but consider contacting the-medical-negligence-experts.co.uk if you believe mistreatment or wrongful diagnosis, for example, might have hindered your recovery process.

Focus on Getting Quality Sleep

Sleep is crucial to feeling well, awake, alert, and so much more. Without a proper night’s sleep, you can feel sluggish, unmotivated, tired, unwell, and irritable. In short; sleep can be the difference between starting your day feeling capable and motivated, and feeling sad, anxious, and achy. During the recovery process, you need to focus on getting at least eight hours of sleep each night. This involves getting into bed at a reasonable hour and sleeping soundly without being disturbed. If you’re having some difficulty nodding off, then consider getting more exercise during the course of your day, winding down in the evening with a bubble bath, reading a book until bedtime, and practising mindfulness.

Don’t Rush Yourself

Bear in mind that the recovery process is just that – a process. Getting better and feeling back on track again is going to take time, and you mustn’t push yourself too far too quickly as you risk undoing all the progress you’ve worked hard to achieve. Remind yourself how far you’ve come, and where you want to be by the end of your recovery. Set yourself realistic goals so that you can focus and channel your energies on gaining momentum and movement through physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment if necessary.

Consider Talking Therapies

As you’ll know, there’s the physical aspect of recovering and also the psychological and emotional aspect as well. Adjusting after illness or injury can be an uphill battle to gain mental strength again, to accept what’s happened, and to rebuild your confidence and self-esteem. So, consider talking to a counsellor, or seeing a psychotherapist to aid you on your way to recovery further.

Happy 13th Birthday KayCee

Happy 13th Birthday to our beautiful daughter, KayCee.

KayCee on her 13th birthday

Her 13th birthday celebrations have been planned since the start of the year! It’s gone through a few (!) changes but the final plan is to start off at home having a pool party followed by a BBQ followed by a roller disco at a local Fun Farm.

The party is planned for tomorrow because it’s the only night they do the roller disco at Fun Farm.

13th Birthday Celebrations – 3rd August

Her party plan has changed at the last minute due to the Fun Farm cancelling the roller disco because the DJ is on holiday, despite Kellyann (KayCee’s older sister) phoning on August 1st to see if they had to book or if they could just turn up.

She was told they could just turn up and it had been quiet lately so they might have the place to themselves.
Suffice to say, Kellyann was not at all happy to be told on the day of the celebrations that they now couldn’t go.

Change Of Plans

They were all a bit disappointed but they enjoyed going bowling instead.

After bowling, they came back here just before 8 pm to sing happy birthday and have birthday cake. They then decided to go back into the pool! Parents came to collect them at 9 pm and I’m happy to say that KayCee really enjoyed the day 🙂

Kellyann made the wonderful Harry Potter cake. It was absolutely delicious.

I’m not putting a photo on of her friends because I don’t have their/their parent’s permission to post any
