A new bathroom Tile Mountain Bathroom Contest

You probably know I really dislike our downstairs shower room. It’s very pink and very 80s and I’ve had enough of it.

I’ve been wanting to save for a new one since we moved in but I haven’t had a chance yet because something or other always seems to need doing first so I’m entering Tile Mountain’s blogger contest to try and help me on the way to a new bathroom!

In case you haven’t seen my bathroom, here it is now:

When we moved in there was a rusty soap dish near the sink. I tried to get it off but the screw wouldn’t unscrew.
I ended up having to pull it off and I damaged the tile in the process.
Ella gave me one her Moshi thingys to cover the mess!

I’ve made a Pinterest board with some of my favourite tile choices and some design ideas for inspiration.

I really like the Premium beige Slate effect range, namely the Bengal Winter wall tile and the Metro white.

I’m always browsing Pinterest trying to find my dream bathroom design and I’ve decided I want a countertop sink on a rustic unit. I did have white cabinets picked out with black counters but I want something less modern and with more character.

This bathroom, from one of my favourite lifestyle bloggers, Jenna Sue is gorgeous and I’d be over the moon with a bathroom like this!

Thanks to Tile Mountain for running this competition and good luck to all entrants 🙂

Shower Room Renovation – My Dream

If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know that my downstairs shower room is, not quite from the dark ages, but still, very old!
The previous owner bricked up the wall where the front door used to be and turned the entrance hall into a shower room so we have 2 toilets, a bath/shower upstairs (but we don’t use the shower up there) and the shower downstairs. It was one of the things that attracted us to this house, along with Ant’s big garage and the big garden.
I’m not sure how long ago he did it but from looking at the bathroom suite, I suspect it was in the 80s.

The shower room is the next job on the endless to-do list when funds allow and I’m hoping that will be very very soon because as it is, it’s a bit embarrassing, to say the least.

It’s pink.

Do I need to elaborate on that?! You can see for yourself from the rest of the photos

Makeover

I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s in serious need of a makeover. I want a new, white bathroom suite, new tiles, and definitely new flooring.
Before buying a tile cutter make sure to check reviews of the top 10 tile cutters that can help you choose the right tile cutter.

Something like this would be lovely 🙂

I used to be very brave with colour choices in the home, even picking a bright orange bed and lime green walls in my bedroom before I met the S.W.H! (who really didn’t like it!) but now I’m more of a neutrals gal.
I’d picked purple accessories in a previous bathroom post but I’ve since decided I’d prefer something calmer so I’ve chosen sage green in my absolute dream bathroom design.

I’m very lucky to have the Super Wonderful Husband because he can turn his hand to anything and plumbing in a new bathroom won’t phase him :0)
He doesn’t like tiling but he can do it and I love the black tiles he put in the kitchen so I’m confident the bathroom will look just as nice.

I really can’t wait to make a start in this bathroom.
