March 3rd – I found this while volunteering at the charity shop today. I knew Kaycee would be really excited and she was! I’m keeping my eye out for book 1 now.

March 4th – I get the urge to buy gardening mags when spring rolls around!

March 5th – World book day. Kaycee went as Gangsta Granny and Ella went as Veruca Salt

26th – The orchid Ant bought me finished flowering so I cut it but then I worried nothing was happening and thought I’d done it wrong.

I was very excited when I saw this new growth 🙂

27th – I think I’ve said this before but here it is again…..volunteering at my local St Barnabas charity shop is not doing my bank balance any favours!

I work on the book section and get to have the first pick when the books come in. I can’t stop buying books and we’re rapidly running out of storage space at home!

Project 365 – February 14th – 20th

21st February 2015

February 14th – We spent Valentines afternoon playing Trivial Pursuit with Kaycee and Ella (Aiden was more interested in playing a new game he’d got for 3DS!). It lasted forever and Ella started to get bored so we never actually got a winner but it was a really lovely afternoon 🙂

February 15th – The kids went to the Harry Potter Studio Tour with their sister, Kellyann and her boyfriend, Ian. They’d bought them tickets for Christmas.

Ella wanted her hair curly so we put it in rags the night before 🙂

February 16th – Ant and I went to B&M today with Kaycee and Ella. I saw this mug, loved it and bought it for myself 🙂

February 18th – We got some summer bulbs from Spalding Bulb and Plant Co.. It was a little cold freezing actually but they didn’t complain when we went out to plant them in pots.

February 18th – I’ve been reading Fifty Shades of Grey but the other night I got bored with it and decided to start on this one instead.

February 19th – I’ve really enjoyed the Eastenders live week. I was a bit disappointed when it was revealed Bobby was the killer because it just seems a bit silly but I loved seeing Kathy back. I was totally surprised and hadn’t seen any hint of her return on the internet which was very surprising!

hint of February 20th – I had a few of the summer bulbs left to plant up as the girls had had to leave to go to Aiden’s dad’s so I finished them this morning. Kaycee put all the markers in the pots without me having to tell her which was brilliant because I always forget to mark the pots then I forget what’s in them!

Project 365 – February 7th – 13th

14th February 2015

February 7th – I’ve booked a cottage in Hay-on-Wye for us to go away for our 10th wedding anniversary in April and I’m really excited! Hay is known for having lots of bookshops and is the reason I’ve wanted to go ever since I saw a photo on another blog 🙂

February 8th – I had loads of fruit and stayed on the Slimming World plan all week only to put on half a pound. I know it’s not much but it’s really got to me because I was expecting a good loss this week. I’ve let it get to me and I’ve now had a rubbish week and I’m dreading the next weigh in!

February 9th – Spring is coming….yay!!

February 10th – We plait Ella’s hair every night to try and help with the brushing the next morning because it gets very tangled. She doesn’t like me doing it any more, she always wants to do it herself.

February 11th – I found these mini vanilla and chocolate croissants at Poundstretcher. They’re a pound for 14 and the kids love them 🙂

February 12th – Ella was concentrating on her reading and I got loads of close-ups of her.

February 13th – I started with a cold the day before Valentines and didn’t have the energy to cook so Ant made dinner for us. The girls were at home and Ella wanted to make it into a special Valentines meal because she couldn’t wait for the actual day!

Project 365 – February 1st – 6th

7th February 2015

February 1st – Ant wants to get the kids trying different fruits so this week we bought a dragon fruit. They all loved it 🙂

2nd – Ella chose The Three Little Pigs to read tonight.

3rd – This was gone by the time the kids got home. They were very disappointed. We haven’t had any more since but we live in hope (well, Ant and Aiden hope we don’t get any so they’re not included the ‘we’!)

4th – Kaycee was torn tonight over which book to read. She’d had some homework that included an excerpt of Roald Dahl’s book called Boy and she really couldn’t wait to start reading it but she also couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next in Lemony Snicket!

I let her start on Boy after reading LS 🙂

Ant said he’s never known such an avid reader of her age.

She didn’t write in her reading book all week and she also forgot to take her PE kit to school so as punishment she had to stay in at playtime and read.

She said she didn’t mind at all because she wanted to read Awful Auntie by David Walliams and it was freezing outside so staying in reading was better!

5th – I’m quite pleased with this photo. I didn’t think I’d managed to capture it very well because I haven’t got manual settings on my camera but the auto settings did quite well 🙂

6th – One of my guilty pleasures is Big Brother and I was happy that Katie Price won celebrity BB yesterday.

I bought this book for Ella from the charity shop because she was a bit upset that she didn’t have many new books for Christmas. Kaycee got the full series of Lemony Snicket books and Ella wanted a book of her own that she could read to us each night.

The top photo is from last week and the bottom one from today after Ant and I spent some more time in the garden getting it cleaned up 🙂

January 27th

These new rhubarb and crumble hi-fi bars are absolutely delicious. They take me right back to being a child and buying a quarter of the sweets from the local shop.

Janaury 28th

Kaycee and Ella made some cinder toffee cupcakes minus the cinder toffee!

January 29th

The girls were hoping for a lot more snow than we actually got!

January 30th

We watched Lemony Snicket on Netflix because we’re currently on book 2 of the series.

January 31st

I don’t usually add today’s photo because I normally do the post in the morning before I’ve taken the photo but seeing as it’s the last day of the month I figured I’d finish the month off.

We decided to take a trip to Donna Nook but it turned into a bit of a disaster!

It was fine weather all the way until we got there. The rain then started and soaked us all while the wind whipped around and almost froze us!

As we stood there, trying to see the sea and not being able to because the rain was going straight in our eyes, I turned to the girls and said, this is the worst trip out ever!

Thankfully we all saw the funny side and laughed :o)

We quickly got back in the car after taking the photo, started to come home and the rain stopped!

The highlight though was finding a farm shop where we bought 6 swedes (I stocked up because they’re a pound each from Tesco), 3 leeks and 2 bags of sprouts for a fiver :o)

How is it already February tomorrow?!

I loved Ally McBeal when it first came on. I’ve now got all the seasons on DVD (I found some of the box sets on Ebay for less than £3!) so I can start again from the beginning 🙂

January 18th

Kaycee takes after me….ice-cream is her favourite dessert!

January 19th

The super wonderful husband and I started the big garden clean-up. Yes, that is a sprinkling of snow and yes it was flipping freezing but it has to be done and the sooner the better as far as I’m concerned.

This is the year where our garden looks lovely again and not like a dumping ground! The garden is what drew me to this house in the first place and it makes me really sad to see it like this.

We got rid of loads of old wood last Monday and cleared the path down the side of the house. Aiden thought it was brilliant that he could get his bike down there without risking life and limb when he got home from school!

January 20th

Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to my highest Tots 100 rank 🙂 I was delighted to get into the top 100 and it’s lovely to be climbing higher and higher each month 🙂

January 21st

I love wall stickers and these birdcage ones are gorgeous! I’m going to be using them and some whiteboard calendar stickers for each of the kids so we can keep track of their chores. Post to follow.

January 22nd

Ella was missing Kaycee tonight. She’d gone to Sheffield with the school to sing at the Young Voices concert and Ella wasn’t used to her not being here! She liked being able to watch her Barbie movies without Kaycee complaining about them though!

January 23rd

Kaycee had a great time at the Young Voices concert. She didn’t get home till about 11.30pm and she was shattered at school the next day but it was a great experience for her 🙂

January 10th – Another game of Tension. It’s fast becoming one of our favourites 🙂

January 13th – I’ve been following a new plan from Slimming World and I’m not allowed potatoes, rice or pasta as well as selected fruit and vegetables. It’s based on filling up with low density and high protein foods. I’ve lost 6.5lb in 2 weeks. I’m enjoying it and not missing the carbs at all. Here I made swede chips for me and potato chips for everyone else. I’ve tried celeriac roasted and chipped as well and I love it!

January 14th – Practising holding her pencil properly with the help of new Stabilo pens and pencils. Love the ‘tongue of concentration’ poking out! Review to follow.

January 14th – It’s been a very long time since I got Slimmer of the Week. I’m totally back on track and ready to put the rubbish year I had last year, behind me and get lots more of this weight off this year 🙂

January 15th – I’m doing a photography course and had to fill the frame with colour for this prompt.

January 16th – A healthy lunch of ham and eggs (protein) cucumber and tomato (low-density foods aka Speed foods) with a little fat-free dressing and salad cream (2 syns) followed by melon and clementines (speed foods).

January 4th -A very frosty night gave me chance to check out the macro setting on my new camera 🙂

January 5th – A new board game and one that we all really enjoyed. I’m not going to groan inwardly anymore when one of them asks me if I’ll play a board game with them!

January 6th – Kaycee loves Pointless so I got her the board game for Christmas. We tried to play as individuals but it was too hard for the girls so we’re going to need daddy to play so we can have teams and the girls can work with an adult.

January 7th – Our Spirograph finally came that we got for running the giveaway last month and as expected, the girls love it 🙂

January 8th – The girls spent a rare few minutes not arguing! They’re reading books together 🙂

January 9th – I’ve joined in with a free 52 week photography course and this is the photo I took for the prompt, Vintage.

PROJECT 365 – Trying again!

3rd January 2015

I’ve tried doing Project 365 photography challenge 3 times now and I’ve only been successful once so I figured since I’ve had a wonderful new camera for Christmas I should put it to good use and try again 🙂

Remembering to take a photo every day is much harder than it seems!

January 1st – Aiden’s stocking full of gifts, waiting for him to come home tomorrow 🙂

January 2nd – They’re back :oD They’ve been away with family since Boxing Day and even though I’ve enjoyed the peace and quiet, I’m happy they’re home.

January 3rd – Daddy helping the girls to learn magic tricks 🙂
