AD – Gifted Items and event attendance

Christmas is likely going to be a very different occasion this year than in previous years. Many of our long-held traditions might have to be missed in order to help stop the spread of Covid-19.

For example, our tradition of holding a party on Christmas Eve for our local family members and not so local ones (we’re in Lincoln, my family is in Derbyshire) is probably not going to happen.
KayCee, especially, is very sad about this because she’s the one who looks forward to the party the most every year.

Virtual Christmas Eve Party

We’ve been toying with the idea of holding a virtual Christmas Eve party instead.
I’ve bought some Christmas quizzes and thought it would be fun for each family to compete with each other!

I was recently invited to a Moonpig Virtual Event with a host of other bloggers and we had a great time. I’m still quite new to Zoom and was a little apprehensive at first but I soon relaxed and started enjoying it.

Moonpig App

I’m also new to Moonpig but after seeing all it has to offer, I think it’s going to be a lifesaver for many people this Christmas.

Jasper, from Moonpig, walked us through all the different features on the app, one of which is the handwritten feature.
All you have to do is write your message on a blank piece of paper then take a photo of it, upload it to Moonpig and it’ll be just like you’ve written it yourself. This extra personal touch is like the icing on the cake for me and I’ll happily send Christmas cards to my family in Derbyshire using the Moonpig app.

I have a code you can use to get 20% off cards when using the app – APP20CA

Address Book And Scheduling

I love that you can store all the names and addresses of your contacts in the app and get reminders when there’s an upcoming birthday or occasion. I also love being able to schedule the sending of the cards on dates of your choice.
For people like me who have to keep asking their mum when family birthdays are due, the scheduling and reminder service is brilliant.

I haven’t used the Moonpig app yet but KayCee has and she loves it. She and her friends send personalised cards to each other for birthdays or just to cheer each other up.

More Moonpig Services

Moonpig isn’t just a card making service; you can order an assortment of gifts such as teddies, alcohol gift sets, chocolates, hampers, novelty gifts and much more.

All the guests at the virtual Moonpig event were sent a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and a cocktail hamper so we could learn how to make a table centrepiece for the Christmas dinner table and 3 delicious cocktails. My favourite was the Vodka Garden cocktail.

I’ll be doing a separate blog post with the recipes for the cocktails so keep an eye out for that; I’m sure you’ll be pleased you did!

Flower Arranging

I really enjoyed making the table centrepiece and I learned a few tricks from Moonpig’s resident flower expert, Roxanne.
I work with florist foam quite a lot but being a papercrafter, the flower arrangements I make don’t need water! I didn’t know that when using the florist foam, you should take time to let it soak up the water itself, don’t try to rush the process by pushing it into the water as this can create airpockets in the foam and it won’t be able to keep your flowers fresh.

I also learned that you don’t have to have everything symmetrical when arranging flowers. I have to admit, I found it hard not to stick to that ‘rule’ when making my centrepiece but I love the finished result so I’ll keep reminding myself of that rule when arranging paper flowers.

Thank you to Moonpig for a very entertaining and enjoyable evening.
