93 Days to Christmas

I have my gift closet set up already, although it’s the space on the top of the wardrobe, not a closet and this is the first year it’s not brimming over with bargains picked up through out the year.
I’ve been a bit relaxed about Christmas organisation this year, which is another reason why I’m setting myself the challenge to spend half as much as I usually do. Because I haven’t been spreading the cost over the year, it has the potential to become even more expensive so I’m being strict with myself.
I WILL NOT let Christmas take over my rational thoughts.
I will enjoy the whole holiday season, including all the planning, which, lets face it, is one of my favourite parts but I WILL do it within budget.
There, I feel better and stronger the more I say it!
93 days people…..only 93!

Dear So & So 23rd Sep

Dear Headaches,
please go away. I have things to do. I need to be able to move, I need to be able to see when I do move and the pain you inflict on my eyes is just unfair if I’m honest with you.
Enough is enough now so I’m asking nicely, stay away, even for a short while. I just need a break.
Yours, tired and in pain, Shell.

Dear Ella,
it’s great seeing you getting so excited now you’re allowed to bring books home from school like KayCee, and we love your enthusiasm 🙂
You keep telling us that you can do things on your own because, ‘I am four now Mummy’ and we love your confidence. You’ve taught yourself how to ride your bike without stabilisers these past 2 weeks because KayCee took hers off. You’re an amazing person and we’re lucky to have you 🙂
Your ‘always proud of you’, Mummy xx

Dear KayCee,
I’m amazed at how brilliantly you’re reading now. You’ve loved learning to read and you are now the official story teller at bedtime, reading such delights as, The Gruffalo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Dear Zoo, over and over again!
Last nights story about mum turning into a monster cut a little close to the bone and I’m going to do my very best to have more patience and to control my anger….I don’t want to grow a big green tail!
I can’t describe how much I love you, Princess. You’re wonderful and gorgeous and we’re proud to have you for our daughter.
Your ‘always proud of you’, Mummy xx

Dear Aiden,
it’s been a stressful few weeks since you started secondary school and while there are still things that need working on, we couldn’t wish for a better son.
I adore you and love you with every part me. I hate having to nag at you but I hope that one day you’ll see that we only getting on at you now to make your life easier in the future. It’s our job to guide you on the path to adulthood and we’re doing our best to make it easier for you.
You’re brilliant and we love you 🙂
Your ‘always proud of you’, Mum xx

Dear B&Q, Wickes and Whisby garden centre,
do you have a conspiracy going on? All we want is some grit. How can all three of you be out of stock at the same time? Has there been a rush on grit? Is there something I need to know about grit at this time of year? I know I’m a new gardener so not up to date with the trends yet but is grit really so popular that none of you has any bags left at all?
I want to get my garden finished and I need grit to stop those pesky slugs and snails getting into my plastic greenhouse so please, be a dear and stock up….soon 🙂
Your frustrated gardener, Shell.

Dear Readers,
I can’t thank you enough for stopping by. I’m loving this new writing lark and whilst I would still carry on even if the only person reading was Ant, it does make me want to write more and more, knowing you’re out there and you’re willing to take the time to drop in and leave a comment. I really do appreciate it 🙂
I also have to mention the 6 followers I have on GFC. I know numbers shouldn’t really count but it did make me feel a bit like a ‘billy no mates’ when it said, ‘no followers yet, be the first!’. Thank you for getting rid of that!
Your very grateful, Shell xx

Oops, nearly forgot!
Head on over to 3 Bedroom Bungalow to see all the other Dear so & so’s 🙂

Flashback Friday 23 Sep

I love this photo of our little princess, KayCee. She was on her way to a princess party and was a little nervous at being left there on her own.
Her sister, Kellyann, bought her the silver shoes and lent her the shawl and bag and her dress is the one she wore when she was a bridesmaid at my brother’s wedding. She was 2 when they got married and the dress went down to the floor. She was 4 on this photo; she’s 6 now and she can still get the dress on! She loves it and wears it 2 or 3 times a week.
Ella also loves it and they tend to argue over who will get to wear it.

She had a lovely time at the party and didn’t want to come home 🙂

A short flashback friday today…lots to do!
Head on over to Cafe Bebe to find more flashbacks.
