November monthly bucket list

Each new month seems to be rolling around faster and faster, I can’t believe it’s November already. Even Ella has said this year is flying by! It’s time for my monthly bucket list again so here’s how I did in October.

November bucket list

  1. Carry on with sorting the SEO on my blog posts (this is going to be on every month til it’s done!)
    Still working on it 🙂
  2. Finish the last of my Christmas present shopping and get my online grocery orders organised. I use the shopping list feature on Tesco and Asda to plan ahead. I can then just add them to my basket when I’m ready to book a delivery.
Still working on it! I’ve got most of my lists done and only a few presents left to buy. I’m planning on going shopping tomorrow so hopefully, I’ll be able to finish up
  3. Go on holiday to Mablethorpe with Ant and the girls 🙂
We had a great week with much better weather than last time. I’ll be posting about our visit to Skegness aquarium later in the week.
  4. Get all the posts for the month done and scheduled so I can take a total week off when we’re on holiday. I’m taking part in #Blogtober16 which is a daily prompt for a blog post so I can get them done in advance.
I did manage to get all my blog posts scheduled so I didn’t have to worry about the blog at all while we were away 🙂

In November I plan to:

  1. Carry on with the SEO work on old blog posts.
  2. Get the Christmas decorations from the loft and check to see if there’s anything we need to buy.
  3. Get my 7.5 stone weight loss award back at Slimming World. I need to lose 10lb to get back to the weight I was when I got my award.
  4. Clear and organise under the stairs. It keeps getting so messy you can’t get in there because no one can be bothered to put shoes on the rack or coats on the hooks. Then they’re complaining to me in the mornings because they can’t find shoes/coats/school bags/P.E. kits!
  5. Sort the chore chart out again. Everyone has their own chores but only Aiden does his consistently. The girls keep ‘forgetting’. We need a routine and the chart helped last time.
  6. Get the whole house cleaned so it’s all lovely when we put the decorations up on the first Saturday in December 🙂

October bucket list

Bucket list time

I’m late again! I keep forgetting to do my bucket list so it’s a good job Beth from Twinderelmo reminds me on Twitter!

chocolate babka with candied peel
We’ve been baking along with the Great British Bake Off

Here’s how I got on with last month’s list:

  1. Carry on with sorting the SEO for each post on my blog. I’ve done about 50 and have 1662 posts in total!
I’ve done some but I still have hundreds to do
  2. Take part every week with The Great British Bake Off Bloggers 2016. Kaycee’s doing the baking, I’m doing the blogging! Tomorrow we’re making Viennese whirls. I can’t wait!
We’ve taken part every week and on the weeks where Kaycee hasn’t had time, Ant’s filled in. They’ve both had Star Baker status and they’re delighted to have been chosen!
  3. It’s September, which means I can officially start planning and organising for Christmas…..Yayyyyy!!
I want to get all my lists in place and my budget sorted to make sure we can have another credit-free Christmas 🙂
My Christmas planning and organising is going really well 🙂
  4. Clear all the weeds from the rockery at the side of the pond. It’s looking overgrown and awful and it has to be done soon because it makes me sad to see it.
DONE! It looks so much better now. My muscles were killing for a couple of days after though!
  5. Find more recipes to use up the ton of apples we’re getting from the tree this year. Ant pruned it in the spring and it loved it! We hardly got any last year but this year we’ve got too many to know what to do with them all!
We made quite a few different recipes with the apples but still ended up giving loads away!

Here’s my list for October:

  1. Carry on with sorting the SEO on my blog posts (this is going to be on every month til it’s done!)
  2. Finish the last of my Christmas present shopping and get my online grocery orders organised. I use the shopping list feature on Tesco and Asda to plan ahead. I can then just add them to my basket when I’m ready to book a delivery.
  3. Go on holiday to Mablethorpe with Ant and the girls 🙂
  4. Get all the posts for the month done and scheduled so I can take a total week off when we’re on holiday. I’m taking part in #Blogtober16 which is a daily prompt for a blog post so I can get them done in advance.

August monthly bucket list

Strawberry and white chocolate 40th birthday cake

August Bucket List time!

I can’t believe it’s August already. The kids have been away since the start of the school holidays and are away for the rest of this week. We’ve taken advantage of this by getting some jobs done in the kitchen!
My July bucket list went quite well, for a change 🙂 Here’s how I did:

Have a BBQ for my 40th birthday

We did and I had a lovely time 🙂

Go to Damon’s on my actual birthday

This didn’t happen. I felt guilty about how much money I spent on the BBQ that I couldn’t spend another £50-£60 for a meal out.
We bought frozen pizza instead and enjoyed a night together in front of the TV!

Tidy the garden before the birthday BBQ

We got lots done and it looked really nice for the BBQ 🙂

I really want to get the floor down in the kitchen (this one is staying on every month until it’s done!)

Yay!! We’ve made a start! When we started emptying the kitchen to do the floor we decided it needed freshening up first with some paint. We then decided that the open shelving we had up, to display our pretty tea cups and other things on was lovely but not very practical.
We need more storage so we took them down, packed away the pretty things and bought a new corner cabinet.

It’s given us loads more space. I can’t wait to get the kitchen reorganised when the floor is finished. We can now get the wine bottles off the counter and in the cupboard. We also have a space for the chopping boards and food covers that didn’t really have a home before. They were just left on the side, making it look messy.

Ant’s working on the floor as I type and I can’t wait to see it all done, it’s going to look so lovely 🙂

Get at least 450 of the 900 blog posts categorised

I’ve got about 200 done I think. Still working on it! I’ve been working on the SEO of the blog posts as well though, which takes lots of time and is the reason I’ve only got 200 done.

Watch seasons 3 and 4 of Charmed

I didn’t watch any charmed last month but I did watch season 2 and we’re on season 3 now of Call the Midwife. It’s one of our favourite shows 🙂

I’m not doing a list for August because we’ve done a summer bucket list, which is going to keep me busy enough!

July bucket list

Things to do in July

Baby frog on a lily leaf

I somehow forgot to do a post for my June bucket list. I intended to do it, I remember that much but after that, it must have totally slipped my mind.
Last month wasn’t a very productive one anyway because it seemed to be a month of illness for most of us at some point.
Headaches, tonsillitis, head colds and more went through each of us. Kaycee got the worst of it with the tonsillitis, bless her.

Here’s how my bucket list for May went:

Seriously work on the garden.

We did transform the shed from a dingy storage area into a ‘She-Shed‘, for the girls to play in.

Get all my blog posts into categories

I’ve still not done it and I still have around 900 to go! I’ve also installed Yoast which is telling me I’ve got changes to make to most of my blog posts to help with their SEO as well so I’ve got lots of work to be getting on with!

Get the flooring down in the kitchen

Nope, it’s still not down 🙁 Hopefully soon!

Help Kaycee and Ella get their blog, Flourish & Blossom set up so they can start blogging regularly. They’ve had blogs in the past but never really kept up with them. They’ve both shown an interest in photography so I think they’re going to focus on that :)

Kaycee and Ella have been playing in the pool every night which is far more important than writing a blog!

So, on to my bucket list for July:

  1. Have a family BBQ for my 40th birthday 😀
  2. Go out to Damon’s on my actual 40th birthday. I LOVE the ribs at Damon’s!
  3. Tidy the garden before the birthday BBQ
  4. I really want to get the floor down in the kitchen (this one is staying on every month until it’s done!)
  5. Get at least 450 of the 900 or so blog posts categorised
  6. Watch seasons 3 and 4 of Charmed (I’ve been re-watching from season 1 on Netflix)

As usual, I’m linking up with Twinderelmo 🙂

May Bucket List

May Bucket List

May bucket list

It’s May.

It’s nearly summer and I still haven’t got any part of the garden done! I really do have to stop putting it off now.

Let’s see how I did with the rest of my April bucket list…

Finish updating the blog!

Well. I didn’t finish the updates I still had to do. Instead, I picked a new theme that didn’t need a certain sized feature image!
I do still have about 1000 posts to edit and put into categories, though!

Get the new flooring down in the kitchen (well, Ant will be putting it down but I’ll be helping move everything out before he can start!)

Nope, didn’t happen. It took nearly all month to get the first part of the stairs done. We wouldn’t have coped with the upheaval of the kitchen at the same time.

Finish the stairs (Ant will be doing that as well!). I really can’t wait to see how it’s going to look 🙂

The first half of the stairs are finished and I LOVE them

Start reading the Harry Potter series again. We watched all the movies over the Easter weekend and it’s made me want to read all the books again. I’d just started another book for April though so I have to finish this one first.

I did intend to start book one but when it came down to it, I looked at the whole bookcase full of unread books that I want to read and I decided I should be spending my reading time reading new books first. I’ve read 4 books in April and I’ve only got 1 book to complete the reading challenge I set for myself for the year, on Goodreads!

My bucket list for May:

  1. Seriously work on the garden.
  2. Get all my blog posts into categories
  3. Get the flooring down in the kitchen
  4. Help Kaycee and Ella get their blog, Flourish & Blossom set up so they can start blogging regularly. They’ve had blogs in the past but never really kept up with them. They’ve both shown an interest in photography so I think they’re going to focus on that 🙂

March Update

My March bucket list was pretty short and even that didn’t stop me failing to get most of it done!

  1. Get the garden tidy. With the changes Ant has made, it’s made me want to get it totally clear and looking lovely again.I didn’t get the garden tidy.
I didn’t get out in the garden at all, except to stand at the pond edge, admiring our lovely tadpoles 🙂
  2. Finish updating the blog
I’m not even halfway through. I have to admit to not working on it as often as I could.
  3. Buy the flooring for the kitchen. I should have enough saved towards the end of the month :)
We did it, we bought the flooring for the kitchen and we even bought the paper and paint for the stairs project I’ve been wanting to do for ages.
Ant made a start on the stairs but the Easter holidays wasn’t really the best time to start! The first night saw Ella forget about the wet paint not once, but twice!
I can’t wait to see them when they’re done.
  4. Read the three books in the Call the Midwife boxset
I decided not to read the second two books in the box set. The first book was ok but it didn’t grip me and after reading just a small part about the workhouse in the first book, I decided I didn’t want to read more harrowing tales.
I used to read true stories but they make me so sad that I stopped torturing myself with them.

April List

My April bucket list is going to be short again but I’m going to do my best to get it done!

  1. Finish updating the blog!
  2. Get the new flooring down in the kitchen (well, Ant will be putting it down but I’ll be helping move everything out before he can start!)
  3. Finish the stairs (Ant will be doing that as well!). I really can’t wait to see how it;s going to look 🙂
  4. Start reading the Harry Potter series again. We watched all the movies over the Easter weekend and it’s made me want to read all the books again. I’d just started another book for April though so I have to finish this one first.

March bucket list

March Bucket List

Spring flowers March bucket list

March already!

I did manage to get some things done from my February bucket list, thankfully!

WordPress

Definitely, get my blog moved over to WordPress

I did it! I still have lots of updates to do to each post and there are over 1000 so it’s taking me a while but I’m really pleased with my new design 🙂

Garden

Make a start on the garden. The apple tree needs pruning before spring comes and I’m sick of all the rubbish and mess lying around.
The kids are home next weekend so I think I’ll get them bundled up in warm clothes, give them gloves and get out there altogether to get it cleaned up.

I haven’t done much in the garden apart from plant some lily bulbs that Ant bought me for Valentine’s Day but Ant’s been really busy out there.
He pruned the apple tree and made a new rockery area around the pond. He also fixed the stream that has been dismantled over winter due to a leak. It looks really lovely and I can’t wait to get some nice plants in there.

Photos

Take more photos with my proper camera. I’m supposed to be doing a photography course but I’ve been too lazy. I’ve got the weekly emails so I’m going to try and catch up during this month then carry on with it for the rest of the year.

I’m afraid I’ve hardly used my proper camera. I’ve been too busy with moving the blog to WordPress!

Re-organise

Re-organise the drawers in the living room. They’re packed with stuff which means you can never find anything when you want it and because there’s so much stuff in each drawer, you don’t even look properly when you do want something because it takes so long to look through it all.

I did this at the start of the month and surprisingly, it’s still quite tidy and organised!

Aiden

Help Aiden sort out his plans for September. He leaves school in a few months and he hasn’t decided whether he wants to go to college in Lincoln or Derbyshire where his dad lives. He had decided to move to his dad’s but since his decision, his half-sister has had a baby and when he stays on weekends he says the baby keeps waking him so I’m not sure if he still wants to live there!

He’s decided to stay home and go to Lincoln college 🙂

Read Lady of Hay before February ends

I finished over a week early and started the Call the Midwife boxset that I want to finish before March ends.

March Bucket List:

  1. Get the garden tidy. With the changes Ant has made, it’s made me want to get it totally clear and looking lovely again.
  2. Finish updating the blog
  3. Buy the flooring for the kitchen. I should have enough saved towards the end of the month 🙂
  4. Read the three books in the Call the Midwife boxset

It’s a short list this month because I have to get the blog done and it takes a lot of time.

February 2016 Monthly Bucket List

Waterfall and fairy ornament - February 2016

Well, I didn’t get much done in January! Let’s hope February will be better 🙂

In January, I want to….

  1. Move from Blogger to WordPress. I’m self-employed, in a partnership with Ant. He fixes computers/laptops and I run this blog and do the accounts. We also run a web hosting business and it’s silly that I’ve got my blog on blogger when I can have it on self-hosted WordPress for free!
I’ve found a lovely template I want to use and I’ll be making a start when the kids go back to school tomorrow.
I deleted my practice version ready to start from scratch but didn’t get any further.
  1. Read more – I have lots of books and I love reading so I have no idea why I don’t read more often. I love losing myself in a good book!
I did read a full book in January and I’ve started my new book for February 🙂
  1. Get the patio cleared and organised – It’s been used as a bit of a dumping ground recently and with the mild winter we’re having, I won’t have to wait for it to warm up before I can make a start!
I think I’ve only stepped out there once and it was too cold so I came back in! Hopefully, February will be a bit warmer.

So onto my goals for February:

  1. Definitely, get my blog moved over to WordPress
  2. Make a start on the garden. The apple tree needs pruning before spring comes and I’m sick of all the rubbish and mess lying around.
The kids are home next weekend so I think I’ll get them bundled up in warm clothes, give them gloves and get out there altogether to get it cleaned up.

  6. Read Lady of Hay before February ends
I think that’s enough to be going on with!

2016 and January Bucket List

Bucket List

There are a few things I want to accomplish this year, some big things and some small things so I’m linking up with Twinderelmo’s bucket list linky 🙂

Book and bookmark - January bucket list

  1. Put new flooring down in the kitchen – I loved the lino when we bought it, it looked really nice when it was first laid. For all of 5 minutes!
The white squares soon looked really dirty and no matter how we try to clean it, they never look clean.
  2. Take the stairs carpet up and varnish/paint the steps – I really dislike having to hoover the stairs. The first hoover we had was huge and made hoovering the stairs a real chore. We bought a new smaller one but it’s not much better and being able to sweep the stairs then wipe over with a damp cloth will be much easier.
I did plan on doing this last year but there always seemed to be something else needing doing first.
  3. Get a new bathroom – Our bathroom is old. Very old and pink. We’ll be fitting the new one ourselves, we just need to save for a new shower/cubicle, sink, flooring, tiles and storage units.
We bought a toilet from B&Q for a fiver but when we got it home, we realised the cistern that came with it didn’t actually fit (our fault for not checking in the shop) so now we have to either see if we can find one that fits or buy a new set and give this one away.
  4. We built a cover over the patio last year and this year we want to put some decking down – It seems everything we want to do costs lots of money!
  5. The garden is a right state – it’s actually quite embarrassing and this is the year we’re going to get it looking lovely 🙂
In January I want to….

August Monthly Bucket List

Last month’s bucket list is, mostly, unfinished and our August monthly bucket list can be found on the Summer Bucket List post 🙂

1) Ant’s built a cover over our patio so now I have to get the walls painted white and the patio furniture in place so we can start enjoying it.

We got the painting done but that’s about it!

2) Help Ant get his garage sorted out. He’s going to be ruthless with his many belongings and he wants to get it organised properly but it’s a massive job so we’re going to do it together.

We emptied the garage and Ant has made a start on getting his new office area sorted but there are still so many boxes to go through and sort.

3) Get my hair dyed. I’ve bought some purple!! hair dye and my mum’s going to come and visit so she can do it for me.

I managed this one 😀 My mum came and did it for me but I should have bought 3 boxes of dye instead of 2 so it’s going to need a top up sooner than usual.

4) Have my Nan-Nan and Aunty Jane over for afternoon tea once the patio is all ready.

As above, the patio is nowhere near ready so this is going to have to wait a bit longer

5) Make a start on the stairs. I want to remove the carpet and paint them because I hate trying to hoover them. Using a brush and dustpan is so much easier!

I haven’t even thought about this one because we’ve had so much other stuff to do. I reckon this is going to be moved to the September bucket list!
