Behind Her Eyes By Sarah Pinborough – Book Review #16

I read a review of Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough at Mum Of Three World and had to add it to my TBR list. Little did I know that it was already on one of my bookshelves! I must have picked it up from the charity shop after reading the blurb then shelved it and forgot about it.

I’m so glad I noticed it after reading the review. I was sat on my bed with Ella while she was reading her bedtime story and I just happened to see it on the shelf!

Behind Her Eyes

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

Louise is a single mom, a secretary, stuck in a modern-day rut. On a rare night out, she meets a man in a bar and sparks fly. Though he leaves after they kiss, she’s thrilled she finally connected with someone.

When Louise arrives at work on Monday, she meets her new boss, David. The man from the bar. The very married man from the bar…who says the kiss was a terrible mistake but who still can’t keep his eyes off Louise.

And then Louise bumps into Adele, who’s new to town and in need of a friend, but she also just happens to be married to David. David and Adele look like the picture-perfect husband and wife, but then why is David so controlling, and why is Adele so scared of him?

As Louise is drawn into David and Adele’s orbit, she uncovers more puzzling questions than answers. The only thing that is crystal clear is that something in this marriage is very, very wrong, but Louise can’t guess how wrong―and how far a person might go to protect their marriage’s secrets.

My Thoughts

OMG, I did not see that ending coming!

I’m always a bit sceptical when the book cover says things like the most shocking ending you’ll ever read because rarely does the book live up to it.
This is one book that truly did shock me at the end.

We’re told the story from Adele and Louise’s point of view as well as some flashbacks to Adele’s past. As you progress through the book you think you know how things are going to be. Then something happens that makes you wonder if you’ve got it all wrong!

Slow Start

The book didn’t grab me straight away. It was a bit of a slow start but after about halfway I found myself not able to put it down.

It’s hard to talk about this book without spoiling it so I’m not going to say anymore.

I’m now adding Sarah Pinborough books to my never-ending TBR list!

Glad you liked it and thanks for the mention! It really is the most shocking ending to a book ever, I think! I didn’t see it coming at all.
