Ella Loves Halloween – homemade luminary jars

Ella loves Halloween

Ella loves Halloween and is going to Asda later with her sister to pick her costume. She doesn’t want to be a witch again. She said she’s always a witch and she’s bored of them now! She’s still not sure what she actually does want to be yet. Looks like I’ll be in for a surprise when she gets home later!

This week she’s been using some Douwe Egberts jars that her dad saved and she made a skeleton, pumpkin, and Frankenstein luminary jars.

Unfortunately, Halloween falls on a school day this year so we won’t be able to do everything Ella wants to do but I am going to do a Halloween themed dinner for her 🙂

Fed up – Weekly weigh in and another gain

Fed up

I’ve stuck to my menu all week again and still gained 1.5lbs. I’m fed up.

I haven’t come home and stuffed my face, though, which is an achievement because all I wanted to do when I left Slimming World was buy chocolate.
I went to Poundstretcher with the intention of buying something to eat but decided not to.
Instead, I came home, checked what was on the menu for lunch and stuck to it.

I’m doing SP this week. I’ll just have to stick to it again and see how it goes. I’m going to try SP with having my full syns (I’m allowed 25 because of my weight). If that doesn’t work, I’m going to try Extra Easy next week but cut my syns to 15 and see how that goes. The only other thing I can try if that doesn’t work is to do SP with 15 syns.

If none of that works, I have no idea what to try. All those things would have seen me have great losses in my first year.

Fitted office at home

Fitted office

When we win the lottery (that we refuse to play now since the price increase!) we’d love to make some changes to our home. Ant has his big garage that he calls his office (there’s no way his car will fit in there!) but it would be much better if it were a fitted office.

If we had the money, we’d get the builders (who very conveniently live next door!) to convert the garage. We would have a bigger kitchen and a utility room. Ant would have a nice big room so he could have a fitted home office. Lots and lots of storage would be great to help him get organised.
I’m sure if he had better storage solutions, he would have a tidier office.

At this point, I’d normally show a photo of his office but I’m not going in there! I would if it looked anything like this:

I tend to steer clear of his office (which I’m sure he’s very happy about!). If there were things in there I needed, I wouldn’t even know where to start looking.
Fitted modern hinged door wardrobes could be a perfect solution for his storage needs. It’s not only an office space, it has all his tools/DIY stuff in as well. He’s also got stock he’s going to be selling online and at car boot sales. It really could do with someone to come in, see what he’s got and design the whole storage solution for him, making the best use of the space.

Seeing as we don’t play the lottery, though, it’s going to a be while before we can make the transformations we want but it’s always nice to window shop and dream, isn’t it?!

Healthy lunchboxes I was happy when I saw the lunchbox builder that came with our Flora lunchbox; according to the advice, Kaycee and Ella already have healthy lunchboxes 🙂

Homework station makeover challenge

Homework station makeover challenge

Kaycee’s been given a budget to take part in a homework station makeover challenge. She was really excited when we took her shopping and got her to pick out all the things she wanted 🙂

homework station makeover challenge

We recently changed rooms around so we could fit a desk in her room for when she started secondary school. We scavenged some things from other parts of the house, like the desk tidy from my desk and a pot of coloured pencils Aiden no longer needed but her desk was a bit empty and boring.

She loves all her new things and seeing her desk has also made Ella more interested in doing her homework! She’s asked Kaycee if they can share the desk. Kaycee agreed as long as Ella promises to keep it as tidy as it looks now!

Halloween garland #BostikBloggers

Halloween garland

Halloween garland

Ella took the reigns when it came to this month’s Bostik blogger’s craft challenge. Halloween is her favourite holiday. She loves it as much as I love Christmas and she starts planning her Halloween costume at the start of September!

She decided to make a Halloween garland with hanging ghosts.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Halloween paper chains
White paper or card
Halloween ribbons
Sticky dots
Glitter
Glue stick

Halloween garland
The girls decided not to use the spiders!

Method

Make the paper chains (if yours aren’t pre-glued, use sticky dots) and set aside

Draw some ghosts on the white paper or card and decorate with the glitter

Cut out the ghosts and make a hole at the top of each one. Thread a ribbon through each ghost and tie them onto the paper chain garland, or use sticky dots to stick the two sides of each ribbon together when its been put through a chain link.

Good week but not a good result – Weekly weigh in

Half pound gain

It’s been a good week food wise but not weight wise. I’ve honestly stuck to plan all week. I’ve got an Excel book with my menus in and I’ve recorded everything I’ve eaten. I went over my syns by 1.5 one day. All the other days have been under my recommended amount for the week.
I’ve also been using a smaller plate to keep my portions down.

It could just be last week’s excesses catching up with me. I expected a far greater gain than I got last week so I’m not going to let it get to me.

I’ve got my menu planned again for the week and I’ve dropped my syns to keep them below 20 every day. My usual amount is 25 because I weigh over 20 stone so we’ll see if dropping them helps.
