This week I expected a gain and I was happy it was only 1.5lb! I celebrated my husband’s birthday with him on Friday and Saturday and I really enjoyed it so I’m fine with the gain.
For a few years now I’ve wanted to wrap up 24 different Christmas story books so the girls could open one each night of advent and be surprised with a new story.
Since starting my volunteering job at the charity shop I’ve been able to sort through the books and reserve them until I could collect them and today I completed our new collection of 24 Christmas stories for advent 🙂
I’m so excited! I can’t wait to get them wrapped and for December 1st to get here so we can read our first one.
I was going to use some of the books that we already have but I thought that seeing as they were so cheap it would be nice to have 24 completely new stories this year.
The girls are going to love it because they look forward to story time every night and they’re going to think it’s brilliant to unwrap a new book 🙂
I think this is going to become a much loved Christmas tradition in our house!
November 17th – I can’t believe I forgot to do my weekly post again last week and this one should have been posted yesterday!
Well, that’s not exactly true, I can believe it because my memory is rubbish and I forgot to set a reminder on my phone!
I’m doing that now so I don’t forget again 🙂
Our week included a birthday for the super wonderful husband, a Chinese takeaway paid for by him with his birthday money as a treat for us! A new role for Kaycee at school and a lovely birthday lunch at the pub where one of Ant’s older children works.
It was really nice spending time with Kellyann, Jervais, Granddad, Jourdain and his girlfriend, Nettie. It’s not often Ant gets to spend time with his older children without the small ones being around so they went to Nanny’s for the afternoon while we for lunch.
The girls had already celebrated with Ant on his birthday, making him gingerbread cards instead of paper cards and instead of a cake because he’s not a big fan of cake!
Ella decided she didn’t want to make a card, though, she wanted to make Christmas cookies for daddy instead!
The next day we also celebrated with a Chinese takeaway. I cracked open the Shloer that I’d been saving for Christmas and Ant fetched some lager from the off-licence. He doesn’t drink very often so it was a nice birthday treat for him.
The kids thought it was great to be able to sit in front of the tv with their takeaway and Shloer and watch Diary of a Wimpy Kid 🙂
The Chinese meal was delicious and totally worth however many syns it was because I’d not had a Chinese in over a year!
The next afternoon I also had fish and chips for lunch so I’m not expecting great things at my weigh in on Wednesday but life is for living and I’ll be sure to have a better week this week 🙂
Kaycee’s very excited to be taking on a new role at school, that of junior PCSO. She had to write a speech and read it to her class so they could vote for who they thought would make the best PCSOs. I think three children were picked and she was so happy when she told me she was one of them 😀
I think that’s about it for this week 🙂
Before I start I need to tell Nanny, Granddad and Daddy not to read any further, otherwise they’ll spoil their surprise Christmas presents!
I love getting personalised calendars for the grandparents at Christmas as they’re always so happy to receive them.
|Sorry for the poor quality of the photo. I’m not getting very good results using my iPhone for photos recently.|
I’ve used Snapfish before as well as a couple of other sites that offer personalised photo gifts and I have to say Snapfish is my favourite.
The personalised photo calendars are great quality. The paper used isn’t that cheap flimsy stuff you get when you buy calendars with pictures of kittens or puppies on!
You can choose between kitchen calendars, desk calendars or poster calendars. I picked kitchen calendars for the Grandparents with the Four Seasons backgrounds.
I wanted to get some gifts for Ant as well as he loves personalised gifts from his children so I bought him a photo mug and an animated bookmark from the animated photo gifts range.
I’m thinking about ordering a 3D bookmark for myself because I think they look great 🙂
Please note: I received a voucher to redeem at Snapfish for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own and are honest.
Week 10: Here’s what I’m thankful for this week:
1) Having my husband home for the weekend (he’s sleeping at his mum’s for a while because she’s not well at the moment) and looking forward to having him home again this weekend as Kellyann’s coming again to stay with Nanny.
2) Ant buying a Blu-Ray player because our DVD player stopped working. We’ve already had it fixed once so he just went and bought a new one so I can watch all my Christmas DVDs 🙂
3) My very unexpected 2lb loss at Slimming World this week.
4) A lovely day spent with the husband on his birthday. He loved the gingerbread birthday cards Kaycee and Aiden made him and the Christmas cookies Ella made him because she didn’t want to make a card!
5) The rain. I know it sounds weird but I love spending a cosy day indoors while it’s raining outside.
6) My father in law for always being willing to nip into town for me when I need something. I don’t drive and Ant doesn’t like driving in town so I always turn to the trusty FIL!
7) The manager of the charity shop letting me volunteer. I really enjoy it and feel like I’m spending some time doing something worthwhile rather than wasting it surfing the net which is what I’d be doing if I were at home!
8) Making new friends at the charity shop 🙂
9) Kaycee’s help with, well, everything! She’s brilliant at organising things and helps with birthday preparations, housework, Christmas stuff, as I said, everything!
10) The delicious Chinese takeaway the S.W.H. treated us all too tonight. I’ve not had Chinese for over a year and I really enjoyed it.
Why not take a look back at last week’s post: Week 9
After having a good week last week I came home from my weekly weigh in at Slimming World and went totally off the rails. I don’t know why, I just lost all control.
It took me until Sunday to sort myself out and get back on track.
I contemplated not going to the weigh in this week. I’ve only ever felt like that a couple of times before and I always have to talk myself out of it because I know if I miss a week I’ll not go back.
The change in my attitude came yesterday while I got dressed to go to work in the charity shop. I got dressed in the dark (it takes me a while to wake up and be able to switch the lights on in a morning!) and pulled a pair of leggings out of the drawer. I thought they were my usual ones but as I was putting them I realised they felt a lot tighter than usual.
I started thinking I must have put loads on for them to be tight.
Later on, when I’d woken up and put the light on, I checked the label and found I’d picked a pair of leggings that had been in my ‘too small for now’ pile and was delighted to find they were a size 24 and they fit me!
I’ve been in a size 30/32 for years and I can’t explain how it felt to be wearing a size 24 😀
So I went to the weekly weigh in and got weighed, even though I was dreading it. Expecting a huge gain I stepped on and nearly cried thinking I’d put on nearly a stone! I saw the pound number was a 6 when last week it had been an 8 but I didn’t check the stones number. Sue told me I’d lost 2lb and I really couldn’t believe it.
I’m now in a great place, head wise and I’m aiming to have a brilliant week 🙂
The girls love headbands. They’ve got loads and were very happy to receive more in the post for this Rose Gal review.
Ella especially loved hers because it matches her Anna dress! (the character from Frozen).
