KayCee’s been making paper robots from a kit we bought. They have bobbleheads and are quite cute!
Ella was very proud to be running her stall with another Beaver today at the Beaver Christmas fair and we all had a lovely afternoon.
They were selling table decorations they had made at Beavers. They cost 50p each and as you can see, they were all lovely.
We found a great bargain while we there. I’ve been looking for some small end tables for ages but they were all so expensive. They had a matching pair that cost £3 each or 2 for £5. I love them!
I like being able to go and support Beavers, Cubs and scouts. The Christmas fair raised nearly £400 for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts 🙂
I loved Spirograph when I was little. I would spend hours creating designs then colouring them in. I reckon my mum loved it as much as me if only for the fact that it kept me quiet for so long!
I have to say, I was very excited to see this version comes with 3D glasses 🙂
For ages 5 years and over. Enter now for your chance to win 🙂
You know by now I’m a bit of a Christmas nut, don’t ya?! When I saw this competition to create my own dream Christmas table over on Love Chic Living I couldn’t wait to go virtual shopping at Debenhams!
The last couple of years we had a huge table in our kitchen and I loved being able to put all the food in my gold rimmed serving dishes so everyone could help themselves.
This year we’ve got a much smaller kitchen that only has a tiny table in that the kids use for breakfast and we have a small round table in the living room that we can all have dinner on but it’s not going to be big enough to use the serving dishes.
It is big enough, however, to have a lovely centrepiece and lots of candles so here’s my choice of Christmas table linen, glasses, dinner set and decorations to make our Christmas dinner perfect 🙂
For our Christmas dessert we usually have something light like profiteroles but this year Ella wants Christmas pudding. I don’t like it so I think I’d love to have a go at making my own panettone and having it with a strong black coffee when my dinner has had a chance to settle! I found this recipe on the BBC website and it looks easier than I thought it would be!
This is a short post this week. I’ve had another gain, only a pound but I’m fairly confident I’m not going to get my 9 stone award before Christmas!
I’m just taking it as it comes now and I’m not going to let it get me down. I’m going to try hard this week to lose a couple of pounds but I’ll be happy now if I stay the same.
I don’t want to put any more weight on and it would be great to get back to the losing streak I had in the first year but not gaining will be fine with me for a while!
Dear Diary – Last week was a quiet one.
Kaycee got picked to play Snow White for the play her Brownie pack is doing at Christmas so she’s been very busy trying to learn her lines.
Ella can be heard singing songs all the time because she’s been learning new ones for her class Christmas performance and Ant’s painted the last two shelves of the built-in bookcase at the side of the fire for me so I’ll soon be able to get everything put back and have a proper living room again!
In other news, it’s only one month until Christmas….Yay!!
I love Christmas and last week I bought the remaining few books I needed for our story advent. I’ve now got to wrap them all while the kids are away this weekend so I’m going to do them Saturday afternoon while watching Christmas movies 🙂
We’ve been checking out the real Christmas trees in pots at Asda as I’ve wanted a real one for years. They’re smaller than I’m used to so we’re going to put it on a coffee table. I’m hoping if I take good care of it, I can make it last year after year.
I bought the poinsettia you can see in the photo above, from Asda. It was a bargain at £2.50 🙂
We’re planning on putting up our tree and decorations on the 7th and I can’t wait! I think I get just as excited as the girls 🙂
The weather is certainly helping to get us in the Christmas mood. It’s been very cold and frosty and this morning the water in the paddling pool (which should have been put away months ago but no one wants the job of cleaning it out!) had a layer of ice on it. Ella loved it!
Ella loves big picture story books like these. Between them, Kaycee and Ella have lots of these kinds of books. This set of The Dinosaur That Pooped books were welcomed into their collection!
The books are written by the seemingly lovely boys from McFly who have now joined together with Busted to become McBusted.
Now I have to say that these books do not fill me with the same sense of hilarity that they do the children! Seeing all that poo on the page is in no way funny to me!
The kids, however, think it’s hilarious. Kids just find poo funny. I don’t know why, I don’t think I’ll ever understand it, I just try and not think about it 🙂
The first book, The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas, introduces us to Danny. A greedy boy who has more toys than he could ever play with yet he still wants lots more from Santa.
Santa gives him a dinosaur egg for a present. It soon hatches and the huge dinosaur starts eating everything in sight, including poor Santa, mum, dad and granny!
When he eventually poos everything back out, Danny has realised that being greedy isn’t nice and he’s a changed boy 🙂
The next book, The Dinosaur That Pooped A Planet, sees Danny and the dinosaur fly off into space but they forget their packed lunch that mum made for them.
The dinosaur eats everything in sight, including the whole spaceship which leaves them floating in space. He continues to everything he can find and Danny gets worried when he realises they can’t get home.
Cue more pooing, which powers them back down to earth and leaves a poo planet next to the moon!
In the new book, The Dinosaur That Pooped the Past, we see Danny and the dinosaur get on a magic swing which sends them back to the time of the dinosaurs. They meet three cute baby dinosaurs called A, B and C!
The dinosaur manages to get them back to the present by, you guessed it, pooing!
Our new little friends, A, B and C get sent back with them and even though I’m not into the pooing part of the stories, I’m looking forward to seeing what mischief the little babies get up to in the next book 🙂
