Photo Challenge – May 24th

With not much left of the day (it’s 11.20pm as I write), I just remembered that Ant and I had our first date 11 years ago today ๐Ÿ™‚

May 17th – Ella really wants a paddling pool and keeps wearing her swimming costume every time the sun comes out! She asked me to take this photo so she could what her face looked like when she blew on the glass!

May 18th – My new coffee plant that Ant bought me ๐Ÿ™‚

May 19th – My second hand bargain, a ยฃ3 Nigella Christmas book from the charity shop that Ant bought me ๐Ÿ™‚

May 20th – Not often I get them both smiling on a photo!

May 21st – We played Come Dine With Me again tonight. Aiden made delicious garlic mushrooms with a garlic dip, Ella made Saag Aloo that everyone loved except Ella! and Kaycee made this gorgeous dessert that won her the ยฃ1 prize!

May 22nd – Ella’s got a thing for buttercups at the moment and picks them every time she sees them so she can check to see if I like butter! After checking she decided to put this one in her hair ๐Ÿ™‚

May 23rd – Kaycee doing Just Dance on the Wii ๐Ÿ™‚

Photo challenge – May 17th

May 10th – Ella ๐Ÿ™‚

May 11th – The husband took this photo while we were out on our first geocaching adventure. I did take my own photo for the day but liked this one more ๐Ÿ™‚

May 12th – My father in law gave me this sudoku cube because he’s not been able to do it. I love sudoku but have to admit to not really liking this puzzle because I’m rubbish at it!

May 13th – Ella again because Kaycee’s not well. She was sent home from school yesterday afternoon with a headache and today she’s got a temperature as well.
Ella took one of her moshi monsters to school and wanted me to take a photo of her with it!

May 14th – Absolutely delicious rhubarb crumble, made with rhubarb from our garden ๐Ÿ™‚

May 15th – Ella’s tongue tattoo!

May 16th – Lily of the valley growing in the planter at the front of our house ๐Ÿ™‚

Photo challenge – May 10th

It’s mainly a garden post this week because I’ve been trying to spend more time out there ๐Ÿ™‚
Saturday May 3rd – Not happy to have found a lily beetle. All the lilies in the garden are being eaten but the ones I planted in the pots a few years ago and brought here from the other house have so far remained untouched. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Sunday May 4th – It’s my sister’s birthday today….happy birthday Stacy ๐Ÿ™‚ I didn’t get to see her because she’s in Derbyshire and I’m in Lincolnshire so today instead of a photo of the birthday girl, we have gorgeous lily of the valley flowers ๐Ÿ™‚

Monday May 5th – It’s my cousin’s 18th birthday today….happy birthday Bethany ๐Ÿ™‚ Again, she lives in Derbyshire so this is a photo of some tools and sunflower seeds I received the other day for a grow the tallest sunflower competition ๐Ÿ™‚

Tuesday May 6th – It’s my brother’s and best friend’s Birthday today….Happy Birthday Jay and Jo ๐Ÿ™‚
It was lovely to see Jo and her husband, Ian, yesterday…thanks for coming to see us and I’ll be down to see you soon xx
The photo is of 2 packets of seeds I got free with the gardening magazine I bought ๐Ÿ™‚

Wednesday May 7th – No birthdays today, thankfully! I’m determined to find out what this plant this. It’s growing really quickly and I can’t wait to see if it flowers.

Thursday May 8th – The kitchen is very nearly done and we have the living room empty again. For how long I have no idea because it always seems that as soon as we get it empty it has to be used as storage and gets filled up again!

Friday May 9th – Last week it took me 4 hours to clean and organise Kaycee and Ella’s bedroom. They both helped and it’s fair to say they got fed up very soon into the cleaning but I wasn’t letting them away with it because I’m sick of having to clean their mess.
I found this on Ella’s board on the fridge!

Photo Challenge – May 26th – 30th

May 25th – I enjoyed this toffee ice cream while sitting at Portsmouth docks next to HMS Victory. I’m pleased to say that after all the treats I ate over our weekend away, I only gained 1.5lb! I was amazed as I expected to gain a lot more!
May 26th – While Ant went on HMS Warrior, I took my kindle to the gardens at the docks and spent a lovely quiet afternoon reading. This was my view every time I looked up ๐Ÿ™‚
May 27th – We drove back via Stonehenge as I’d never seen it before. I managed to get another couple of photos as we drove past.
May 28th – Our blueberry bush seemed to do be doing really well a few weeks ago but recently the leaves have started to turn brown.
After a quick Google, I found that azaleas and blueberry bushes like the same conditions so Ant and I took it out of the pot and planted it next to the azalea we bought a few weeks ago. The azalea is doing really well so I’m hoping the blueberry starts to show signs of growth soon.
May 29th – Talking of the azalea, here’s one of the lovely flowers ๐Ÿ™‚
May 30th – This is one of the aquilegia flowers I planted. There are lots of different colours and I read that they self-seed. I’m hoping next year to have loads more of these.
May 31st – I made some changes to the garden yesterday. I took down the greenhouse because I’ve hardly used it this year. I know I’m not going to be using it over the summer so I’m using that space for the kids’ bikes and we’re going to get a bamboo screen so they won’t be on view when you sit on the patio.
I’m going to grow some sweet peas up the screen next year ๐Ÿ˜€
We did have the bikes on the patio but it always looked messy and I was fed up of seeing bikes in a heap in a space that should provide peace and comfort!

Photo Challenge May 18th – 24th

18th – Ella eating a jaffa cake by pulling it apart and saving the ‘smashing orangy bit’ till last!
19th – New grass ๐Ÿ˜€ See this post for the before pics ๐Ÿ™‚
20th – Kaycee made her Brownie promise today. She’d practised loads and made me very proud by remembering it all perfectly ๐Ÿ™‚
21st – This is our blueberry bush. We’re hoping for some fruit this year. It said when I bought it that would fruit from the second year so fingers crossed!
22nd – This alpine is one of the few that is thriving in the waterfall rock garden. I can’t remember what it’s called but I’m looking forward to the lovely yellow flowers it has in the summer.
23rd – I got excited when I saw the true leaves growing on the Love in a Mist seeds I sowed a few weeks ago ๐Ÿ™‚
24th – My weigh in at Slimming World is going to be a disaster on Wednesday; this is a rocky road sundae! I only managed half of it but even so, I refuse to feel guilty about the huge amount of calories I ate because 10 years ago today Ant and I got together ๐Ÿ˜€
We can count on one hand how many times we’ve been for a meal with just the two of us, so I decided that as we’re away on our own for the long weekend I was going to enjoy a meal out with my super wonderful husband. We went to Beefeater and I have to say it was delicious but I felt like I’d eaten a horse for hours after and even the next morning, I still felt full!

Photo Challenge – May 11th – May 17th

11th – I think, although I’m not 100% sure that this a wallflower. I bought a pack of assorted plug plants last year with some birthday money and I forgot to label them all so I totally forgot what these were called. The other day someone mentioned wallflowers on the tv and my first thought was that it sounded familiar and maybe those plants in the garden were wallflowers.
I’ve Googled them and they do look very similar but for now, that’s the only flower I have and it’s missing petals now after the strong winds from the other day so it’s a bit hard to tell. I’ll check again when I get more flowers.

12th – This is another plant that I forgot to label and I planted it 2 or 3 years ago now so I have no chance of remembering what it’s called but I love the dark pink colour.

13th – I haven’t done any cross stitch for years and started looking for a kit on Amazon the other week after I suddenly had the urge to sew!
I don’t remember the kits being so expensive and I decided against it for now but then my mother in law mentioned that she’d had one as a gift and she didn’t want to do it so I offered to do it for her.
I’ve never worked on a printed one before, I’ve always worked from a chart but I have to admit, it’s a lot easier doing it on printed fabric!

14th – I treated myself to a black coffee and some chocolate after losing another 2 and a half pounds at Slimming World today ๐Ÿ™‚

15th – Ella recently started piano lessons on a Friday afternoon at school and here she is practising at home ๐Ÿ™‚

16th – We’ve got a house guest for a few days and the girls don’t want to let her go home….again!
They both love Chi-Chi and always love it when she comes to stay ๐Ÿ™‚

17th – It’s my nephew’s 6th birthday today and he wanted a pool table cake. I used sweets for the balls because I didn’t have time to make lifelike pool balls. Jake didn’t complain, he loved it ๐Ÿ™‚

Photo Challenge May 4th – May 10th

4th – Aiden, Kaycee and Ella were trying to give each other piggybacks and the girls thought it was funny to both try and climb on Aiden at the same time. I was laughing too much to take a photo when Kaycee tried to give Aiden a piggyback!
5th – Our first bbq of the year and it was delicious ๐Ÿ™‚ Looking forward to the next one although the dull and rainy days seem to have returned for now ๐Ÿ™
6th – My mother in law bought us 2 Clematis Montana Rubens for the 2 arches we have in the garden. One of them is already flowering and I’m excited to see the arches covered in these beautiful pink flowers.
7th – I was craving chip shop chips but I didn’t give in, I made roast potato slices, mushy peas and gammon with mushrooms. It helped with the craving!
8th – One of the things I miss most about my new healthy eating plan is ice cream so today I saved some syns and had a treat ๐Ÿ™‚
9th – Creme caramel is another treat of mine. They’re only 5.5 syns and well worth it for a lovely smooth dessert.
10th – We bought Pit for Aiden for Christmas and it just got put with the other games and forgotten about, until Kaycee found it and bought it down to play with Ella and Grandad. They really enjoyed it until Grandad got the hang of it and kept winning!

Photo Challenge – April 27th to May 3rd

27th – Ant and I went for a meal on Saturday night to celebrate his daughter, Kellyann’s 30th birthday. I had a banana and caramel dessert thingy that was delicious.

28th – We’ve had Chi-Chi to stay for the week again and the girls have loved it ๐Ÿ™‚ Ella said it’s not fair that she has to go back to Nanny’s because she wants to keep her!

29th – I seem to have lived off pasta n sauce lunches recently. I add loads of veg like onions, peppers, celery and carrot and it really sets me up for the afternoon. I don’t need to snack at all because it keeps me full till dinnertime ๐Ÿ™‚

30th – The waterfall is back to it’s former glory after the break it had over the winter and I’m really happy to see the birds back drinking and taking baths in it ๐Ÿ™‚

1st May – There’s a story behind this but I’ll try to keep it brief! When Aiden was born I was given a baby book to fill in. I was a single mum with only 1 child so I found it very easy to fill the whole book in and save loads of things from his first couple of years because there was only him to look after. No work or other children took the free time I got.
When Kaycee was born I was given another baby book and I managed to fill a lot of it in but I started work when she was a few months old and it didn’t get properly finished but she loves it and often has a look through it.
When Ella was born no one bought me a baby book and I only took a few weeks off work so at the time I didn’t even think about it. I had a 7 year old, a 2 year old and a job which took all of my time.
Now when Ella sees Kaycee looking at her book, she gets a bit jealous that she hasn’t got one and the first time she asked where her book was I felt awful saying she didn’t have one.
I saw this book and knew it would be perfect for us to do together. It has pockets to save pictures and things she does at school and each double page meant to record a years worth of information like school teachers, hobbies etc

2nd May – I was excited to receive my Cherry Menlove book today ๐Ÿ™‚ I started reading Cherry’s blog a few years ago and I was inspired to try growing some herbs from seed after never really bothering with any kind of gardening. After the success of those herbs it gave me the gardening bug and I now love spending time in the garden.
It’s because of those herbs I totally redesigned the garden and together with Ant we spent nearly a year digging and building and creating a space we love.
I’m really looking forward to spending as much time as possible over the long weekend getting garden jobs done ๐Ÿ™‚

3rd May – I went out to water the newly transplanted roses that we got from my mother in law’s garden (she’s had part of the front garden turned into a driveway and the rose bushes, spring bulbs and heathers were going to be destroyed so I dug them up before the builders arrived!) and noticed the blossom from the tree near the back door was gently being blown around. For some reason I’d not taken any notice of the tree in blossom and today I spent time just enjoying the beauty of it.

I took this yesterday as well as the one I used in the collage and at first couldn’t decide which use but I figured this one needed to be big!
It was lovely and sunny yesterday and I wanted to capture the blossom before it disappears ๐Ÿ™‚
