These Books ‘BLUE’ Us Away – Book Display

These Books BLUE Us Away

We collected lots of books with blue covers for our book display. The customers at St Barnabas loved it 🙂

Next week I’ll be writing about Kaycee’s and Ella’s first book club instead of showing you one of my book displays. They’ve been sent 6 copies of James Patterson’s new children’s book, Jacky Ha-Ha and some other items to make the book club meeting fun.

Kaycee’s finished the book and Ella’s over half way. They’re both really looking forward to having their friends round to discuss the book. I’ve ordered some nibbles and drinks for them to enjoy 🙂

Read It With A Box Of Tissues – Book Display

Box of Tissues

Read it with a box of tissues is a book display that showcases true life stories. I used to be a fan of those kind of books but since having children, I can’t read them anymore. Most of them are about the author having an awful childhood and they make me too sad.
I just don’t understand, after having three gorgeous babies and watching them grow into wonderful children, how anyone could ever mistreat their child.

I do understand why people read these books, though. They help bring awareness to the public so these things aren’t kept secret.
I suspect telling their story also helps the author move forward with their life.

20 Years Of World Book Day

World Book Day

After this year, we’ll only have one World Book Day costume to find/make. Aiden’s at college and Kaycee’s at secondary school so they don’t dress up for WBD anymore.
Ella only has one year left after this year at junior school and this year she’s sorted her own costume out.

She’s going as a unicorn. She’s borrowing Kaycee’s unicorn hoody and wearing it with a pair of shorts and some sparkly tights we bought for her.

We had a WBD display at the charity shop all week but unfortunately, I didn’t get to see it because I was ill all week. I made the poster and Ant dropped in at the shop so one of the managers could do the display.

Blind Date With A Book – Book Display

Blind Date With A Book

We had an alternative Valentine’s display at St Barnabas charity shop last week; Blind Date With A Book. I wrapped some chic-lit books up in crepe paper and decorated them with stickers.

Everyone saved beauty sets, nail varnish and lotions throughout the week for the display from the donated items. We ended up with a lovely looking display.

The idea is to pamper yourself then grab some wine and chocolates and settle for a blind date with a book.

If we were to do it again, we’d put a price on each book. They didn’t sell very well because I think the customers thought they were more for decoration!

When we took the display down to put the new one up, we put the books on the counter and sold some almost straight away!

Killer Thrillers – Book Display at St Barnabas

Killer Thrillers

I can’t get enough of Killer Thrillers at the moment. When I read the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffrey Deaver a few years ago and I moved onto thrillers from chic lit. I love the suspense and trying to work out who the killer is. I usually know when we’re watching shows about murder on TV but I’m never very good at it when reading!

Thrillers are very popular at the charity shop, St Barnabas, where I volunteer and this display did really well 🙂

Right now, the book display at the shop is ‘Blind Date With A Book’. I’ll be back with the photos next week 🙂

Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover – Book Display

Don’t judge a book by its cover

It took a while to cover all the books for our, Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover, book display. I typed out the first couple of paragraphs from each book and attached them to front cover. The idea being that you had to read the paragraph to decide whether you wanted to read the rest of the book.

Another book display from the charity shop where I volunteer, St Barnabas. Next week I’ll be showing you my Killer Thriller display. I love thrillers so enjoyed finding books for that display. I ended up buying another 3 books to add to my ‘to be read’ pile!

One of my earlier displays is one of my favourites. We got lots of comments for our display from the customers at St Barnabas. I volunteer at the charity shop two mornings a week in the book department.

I change the displays every Friday ready for the weekend. Today I’m changing it from Killer Thrillers to Children’s Bedtime Stories.
I’ve got the next few months displays planned so the book team can start saving any relevant books they come across when sorting through the donations 🙂

Have you ‘RED’ these yet? – Book Display

Have you ‘RED’ these yet?

Pinterest is excellent for getting inspiration for the weekly book displays I do at my local charity shop, St Barnabas.
This one was a display I did last year and it’s a play on words, Have you ‘RED’ this yet?

We saved up all the red coloured books that came in the week before 🙂

If you have any ideas for future book displays I can do, I’d appreciate it if you could leave me a comment 🙂 I’m planning on doing Date Night With a Book for Valentine’s Day.

Another idea is to wrap the books in colourful paper and do a book lucky dip. As an avid reader who struggles to know which book to read next from the huge ‘to read’ pile I have, this one excites me the most!

Book Displays – Movies From Books

Book Displays

I’ve been volunteering at my local charity shop, St Barnabas, in the book department, for a couple of years. I love working there and always look forward to my shift. I like finding new ways to do book displays and today I did a ‘movies from books’ display. I’m hoping to get time to do a proper poster for it over the weekend so it stands out a bit more 🙂

If you have any ideas for displays, I’d love to hear them 🙂 I’ve been searching Pinterest for ideas. There are some great ones but I still need lots more so I can change it every week!
