Britmums and Kodak Big App Challenge

I’m so excited about this challenge! I LOVE Kodak Big App and have been on the site for ages loading loads of different photos, trying to pick my favourite.

Our bedroom is the only room in the house without bookshelves/pictures/stickers all over the walls and I’ve been itching to do something creative when I redecorate the room next year. At the moment, it has one picture on the wall above our bed.

and the rest are bare. I’ve picked some large stickers for the wall in the picture above and now plan to move the picture of the babies and replace it with Ant’s favourite picture. It’s me and the kids on the beach at Skegness last year when we went to Haven. I picked this one for the bedroom because it’s very tranquil
It’s going to print out on 16 A4 sheets so now I’m on the lookout for 16 frames! I’ll be getting Ant to hang them because he’s a perfectionist and I know he’ll measure and mark and remeasure and hang them perfectly 🙂

We also have a very bare wall up the stairs that I keep wanting to do something with and haven’t found any ideas I like, until now! The opposite wall has loads of family photos on and I intend to add to them over the years as our children grow. As soon as I saw the Kodak Big App I knew that this would be the perfect way to fill that huge wall space.
I’m so excited to see them all on the wall!

#TheGallery – Faces

The Gallery is taking a week off but seeing as I’ll be on holiday next week, I wanted to get the post done now so I only have to spend a couple of minutes linking up next Wednesday.

I’ve found a few photos that I could use for the prompt this week but even as I was looking through all our photos, I knew the one I was going to use.
The reason I hesitated is that I’ve used this photo recently on a post but I decided it was good enough to use twice!

This is my gorgeous little girl, Ella and her cousin, Jake. There’s always been a special connection between these two. I don’t know why or when it started, it just always seems to have been there.
They don’t get to see each other that often, with us living in Lincoln and Jake living in Derbyshire but they love getting together and going to the park or just playing in the house.

I love how the expressions on their faces mirror each other and the sheer happiness that has been captured is a moment to treasure forever.

Ella says Jake is her boyfriend and she’s going to marry him when she’s older! That remains to be seen but whatever the outcome of the relationship!, I hope they continue to have that special bond and be there for each other throughout their lives 🙂

The Gallery – Colour

This is my favourite plant in the garden. It’s called Lantana, Lucky Sunrise Rose and when I first saw it, I fell in love with the different colours on each tiny flower. When all the tiny flower heads have opened on each cluster, they turn pink. (Something is eating my lupins in the picture there. Haven’t found out what yet but luckily the lupin seems to be growing faster than the pesky little things can eat it!).

It’s been in flower constantly since we bought it and it’s the only real splash of colour we have in the garden this year because nothing else has grown yet.
I love my ‘fairy rose’, as Ant christened it and can’t wait to get more all around the garden 🙂

This post is my entry to this weeks Gallery

The Gallery – Home

Home for me is where my family is

but my most favourite place to be when I’m home is in our garden, sitting on the love seat, relaxing next to our waterfall rockery.
If you’re a regular visitor to my blog, one who isn’t my husband that is!, you’ll probably be totally fed up of seeing pictures of the rockery by now but it’s the place that I love the most about our home so I have to show it again!

The Gallery – Guilty Pleasures

Guilty Pleasures

I have to be honest when I say that this is my second choice of guilty pleasures.
My first choice doesn’t last long in this house….ice cream. Any kind, almost any flavour (not coffee….urghh!) and for once, on the day I needed to take a picture, the freezer is empty of all and any kind of ice cream! There isn’t even a lone choc ice floating around, which is very mysterious, to say the least!

So, my next guilty pleasure is….

Coffee and chocolate guilty pleasures

I love a caramel-flavoured coffee with chocolate. Again, any chocolate will do. Kit Kat chunky and Mint Aero are the 2 I’d first pick but I wouldn’t say no to a Cadbury’s Flake or Twirl either.
When the husband has gone to work and the kids have gone to school, I make a coffee, grab a bar and relax with either my gardening magazine or Facebook!

I’m probably sharing a chocolatey guilty pleasure with almost everyone who joins in the linky today!
I’m heading on over to check out all the entries. If you want to do the same, click the button 🙂

The Gallery – A Happy Memory

I was looking for baby photos of my children for today’s entry to The Gallery over at the wonderful, Sticky Fingers blog, when I came across some photos from our honeymoon. We had a lovely time so I’ve picked the following photos to show one of my very happy memories 🙂

We stayed at York Lakeside Lodges and it was definitely the right destination for us. The lodge was lovely and as the name suggests, it looked out onto a huge lake.
There were ducks and geese roaming everywhere and as we went in May, there were lots of baby ducks and geese to ooooh and awwww over!

We also had a squirrel visitor who would come right up to the window and have a peek inside!

We visited a few different places during the week, including lavender farms, Holmfirth, where Last of the Summer Wine was filmed and took drives through the Yorkshire moors and dales.
The scenery was beautiful and we took lots of photos. I’m a big fan of natural waterways and there were loads of streams and rivers. We had to keep stopping the car so we could enjoy the views and take yet more photos!

It was a lovely relaxing week and I’ve really enjoyed looking through all the photos to find just the right ones to include in this post 🙂

Flashback Friday

I read a post about Autumn earlier this week and I started getting excited about its arrival and also that of Christmas 🙂 I love autumn and winter. I don’t like being cold but I do love wearing my fur-lined boot slippers and big snuggly cardigan.
When they come out of storage, I start to feel Christmasey! It won’t be long now, my feet are a little chilly and I may just have to get the throw from the back of the chair to cover them up for a bit.
I came across this photo while looking for something else and thought it would be the perfect photo for my Flashback Friday post.

This was taken in January this year so not too far back but I remember going into the garden and seeing this stunning view. I just had to go back and get my camera. Looking at this photo, I can feel the freezing cold air on my face, feel the pain as it took my breath away if I tried to breathe in too deeply.
I wrapped my cardi tighter round my body and just stood for a moment, taking it all in.
We’d had quite heavy snow in December and I got great pictures but even the beauty of the snow (which just happens to be my favourite weather ever!) didn’t compare to the way the trees looked on that day.

I can’t wait for winter/snow/Christmas and I’m starting to get a little excited thinking about it!
Let’s hope (although I know my husband and Father in law won’t agree….mind you, they do have to drive in it while I don’t!) we have lots of snow this Christmas and more opportunities to take photos like these 🙂
