Bucilla Felt Stocking Kits

On my 18th birthday, I went to America to visit my aunt who was a nanny out there. I was toying with the idea of moving there to become a nanny myself so she paid for me to go and see whether I liked it or not.
While I was there, I was introduced to the wonderful world of Bucilla felt kits. My aunt had started a Christmas tree skirt kit but hadn’t found time to finish it. She said that as long as I promised to finish it, I could take it home with me.

Crafting

I already loved Christmas and enjoyed doing crafts such as cross stitch and rag rug making. The felt kits became my favourite craft.

The first tree skirt was for my mum then another aunt asked me to make her kit up for her. I then bought another for myself from a shopping channel!

They were quite expensive back then and I didn’t buy any more until this year when I saw some stockings on Amazon.

Cupcake Angel Stocking

My stepdaughter loves all things cupcakes so when I saw a cupcake angel stocking I had to make it for her.

The girls saw me making and both said they wished they could have one so I secretly ordered them one each and worked on them when they were in bed or at school.

Sugar Plum Fairy & Princess Stockings

When they opened them on Christmas Eve, they were absolutely delighted with them. Kaycee even got a little emotional 🙂
I made Ella a sugar plum fairy stocking and Kaycee a princess stocking

I love the amount of detail that goes into these and they make a really special personalised gift.

Wreath Kits

I want to make a wreath for next year and I’m planning on making Aiden, Kaycee and Ella a tree skirt each for when they get their own homes.
I’m going to be doing them a special box containing the tree ornaments that I’ve bought them each year since they were born, their Christmas mugs collection, their fleecy throws, their stockings and a tree skirt for their first Christmas in their new homes.
I know I’m getting ahead of myself as Kaycee and Ella are only 10 and 8. Aiden’s nearly 16 so it won’t be too long before he gets a place of his own.

North Pole Breakfast

I totally forgot to post the photos from our North Pole Breakfast. The girls love NPB day and I try and do it on different days each year on the activity advent so it’s always a surprise 🙂

Winter Wonderland

Sleigh bells ring
are you listening
in the lane
snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
we’re happy tonight
walking in a winter wonderland

Gone away is the bluebird
here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song
as we go along
walking in a winter wonderland

In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He’ll say: Are you married?
we’ll say: No man
But you can do the job
when you’re in town

Later on
we’ll conspire
as we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
the plans that we’ve made
walking in a winter wonderland

In the meadow, we can build a snowman
and pretend that he’s a circus clown
We’ll have lots of fun with mister snowman
until the the other kids knock him down

When it snows
ain’t it thrilling
Though your nose gets a chilling
We’ll frolic and play
the Eskimo way
walking in a winter wonderland

Merry Christmas 2016
Merry Christmas 2017

It’s Christmas Eve! Yay!!!

It was an early start for me this morning; I don’t know why, probably excitement because it’s Christmas Eve – Yay!!! I was down just after 7 am.

I’m now shattered and ready for a nap!

Kaycee and I have moved the furniture around in the living room so we can fit the family in for our buffet tea tonight.
We made a start on the food while Ella and Daddy spent the morning in the kitchen baking bread rolls for the party and getting everything prepped for Christmas dinner tomorrow.
Daddy’s cooking Christmas dinner, as I’ve probably mentioned once or twice! and I’m looking forward to a less stressful Christmas day 🙂

Don’t get me wrong, I do love cooking Christmas dinner for my family, but it will make a nice change, not having to keep an eye on the time all day.

We’re going to spend a leisurely afternoon having a small lunch and watching something Christmassy then get the rest of the food ready for our guests who are arriving around 4 pm.

I can’t wait!

Whatever you’re doing today, I hope you all have a wonderful time 🙂

Christmas Bark Recipes

Christmas bark recipes

If you want to make some edible gifts that are really easy and don’t cost too much, these Christmas bark recipes can help. It’s a really good gift for children to make because they can go to town with the decorations.

We made some one year and the girls loved it. They didn’t much care about having to give it away, though! They asked if we can make more but keep it for ourselves next time!

Some of our advent activities

The girls are really enjoying the advent activities although we are a little behind with a couple of them! We haven’t made paper lanterns or written a Christmas wish to hang on the tree yet. We didn’t get to make our cinnamon ornaments today as the girls were busy playing together really nicely all day and I didn’t want to interrupt because it doesn’t happen very often!
