How does your garden grow? July 11th

Who knew laying bricks for a path could be so relaxing?!
It’s not easy, don’t get me wrong, it puts strain on your back and knees but the peace and quiet of Nanny’s garden makes up for the aches ๐Ÿ™‚

We live on an estate only a few minutes away from Nanny’s new house and the difference between the two places could not be bigger.
At Nanny’s there are no kids out on the street shouting and swearing abuse at you, smashing things up and leaving the rubbish in the bushes or trying to break in to your electric box with a screwdriver set!
There’s also no loud music bang bang banging away on hot summer days (it wouldn’t be so bad if the culprit had a better taste in music!).

In Nanny’s garden you have birds singing, dragonflies dancing over the grass and bees busy flitting from one flower to another. I could spend all day sitting reading a book and be totally content.

House envy – moi?

Never!! ๐Ÿ˜›

Anyway, back to the path!

It’s been my biggest project this week and looks like it’s going to take a few weeks to complete. It is getting easier and faster now I’m getting more experienced though.

I have to show you this gorgeous tree that recently became covered in lovely, sweet smelling, white flowers. After a bit of Googling I think I’ve identified it as a Mock Orange. The white flowers in the top small picture are a close up of the ones from the tree so if you have any idea whether I’m right or not, I’d be pleased to hear it ๐Ÿ™‚

The middle picture is a teeny tiny frog, sitting on the spade that my stepson, Jervais was using to dig the soon-to-be, rockery area. He brought it to show me and I have to admit to getting very excited. I love frogs and have always wanted them in our garden.
The final picture is a gorgeous peony that had just started coming through early in spring when we first went to look at the house with Nanny.
My peony at home hasn’t flowered yet. I’ve got my fingers crossed that next year will be the year!

[…] Faves from last week include; butterfly bushes, the plants with no name, the awesome lantern collection, the garden being loved and the endlessly hard worked one. […]

Wow that looks like hard work – but it's going to look great when it's done. I love that mock orange too – we walk past something that looks like that on the way to school and it's gorgeous – I had no idea what it was until now!

Wow, you've done an amazing job there. You sound a lot like my neighbour who built a fence out of pallets. i would love to be as talented as you both! Well done and sorry to hear that your garden isn't as peaceful as your Nan's

The path is coming along nicely – so glad that you are keeping the brick path – they always look so charming. Not only are you doing something lovely for nanny but it sounds like you are getting a lot back from it personally, pride of a job well done, enjoyment and big dollops of good karma!

Thanks for joining in again, I love seeing how you are getting on with the garden, looking back what a difference you have made in the past few weeks!
